Santariusová, Markéta ; Klosová, Anna (advisor) ; Jegers, Marc (referee)
The main aim of this dissertation is to investigate whether the price convergence between new and old EU member countries occurred. According to development of price level index it is shown that new member countries converge towards the EU27 and that old member countries more or less hover around their initial levels. Germany is chosen to be a benchmark country and thus the development towards Germany is also examined. The results reveal that new member states converge towards the benchmark country. However, in the case of old member states both convergence and divergence occurs. Furthermore, factors that may have an influence on such a development are investigated. The empirical research shows that GDP, hiring regulations and minimum wage and business regulation were of significance during the examined period, from 2000 to 2009 respectively.

Analysis of work incapacity
Gobyová, Jana ; Rychtaříková, Jitka (advisor) ; Šídlo, Luděk (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the trends of incapacity for work in the Czech Republic since 1990. These trends are related to the legislative and socioeconomic changes, which are the results of transformation of socialist society towards capitalist society. In this thesis, there are followed three main indicators of incapacity for work. The number of cases of incapacity for work per 100 sickness insured persons, which has dropped since the beginning 1990; the number of calendar days of incapacity for work per 1 case, which has on the contrary increased and the average percentage of incapacity for work, which has oscillated. The performed analyses have proved the crucial effect of sickness intensity (quantum) on changes of the values of mentioned indicators. The effect of intensity has explicitly outweighed the effect of age structure of population. Regression analysis has confirmed the hypothesis of causation of other factors, than only health factors, on the global level of incapacity for work. With respect to obtained information and level of sickness intensity by age and social groups, there is an issue of possibility and manner of reduction of their level, which exceeds the European average. Maršíková, Michaela ; Dvořák, Antonín (advisor) ; Hadrabová, Alena (referee)
Master's Thesis considers the idea of use of renewable energy sources for the generation of electricity. On the basis of reports on climate warming, the European Union took measures, which are mandatory for all Member States and aimed to increase the share of renewable energy in total energy production by 2010. Czech Republic has committed itself to produce 8% of energy from renewable energy sources, the government has created a system of subsidies to renewable energy sources and a system of redemption prices. These measures make energy very expensive. This work deals with the origin of these measures, which are reports on global warming. My work is also comparing predictions on the future status, as well as examining the advantages of investing in renewable energy sources and comparing the prices of subsidized energy with other types of energy.

The analysis of relationship between corruption level and price level of infrastructure works
Dvořák, Michal ; Pavel, Jan (advisor) ; Vítek, Leoš (referee)
The thesis analyses the influence of corruption on infrastructure works prices. For that purpose, indicators based on Comparative price level indices issued by Eurostat and Corruption Perceptions Index by Transparency International are used. The method is a cross-sectional analysis of at least 20 European countries for 2007. NERV and Czech media have used the mentioned indicators to demonstrate overpricing of road construction in the Czech Republic. These indicators will be controlled for difference in labor and capital costs across countries, which affects the indicators through different production factor consumption in engineering works and other branches of construction. Significant correlation between corruption index and indicators of engineering works prices was found both in the unadjusted and adjusted form.
