The influence of specific training on the development of muscle strength of legs
Nepožitek, Jan ; Bátorová, Michaela (referee) ; Šťastný, Jan (advisor)
The bachelor thesis deals with the use of isokinetic dynamometry for the analysis of the effect of specific training. The introductory part of the bachelor thesis described isokinetics, history and types of muscle activities. There is also a proposal for a specific training, which the experimental group followed over the course of two months. Part of the work is to determine the measurement methodology on an isokinetics dynamometer, in which the experimental and control groups were measured before and after specific training. As part of the dynamometric testing, the muscular strength of the lower limbs in the knee joint was measured, in which the quadriceps and hind muscles were the most involved. The assumpiton was that experimental group would have an increase in muscle strength after completing a specific training. The measured values were processed in the Matlab software environment, thanks to which the individual signals and the maximum values of individual measurements were plotted. The measured values were statistically processed and evaluated using non-parametric tests. It was found that specific training had a partial effect on the development of muscle strength in the lower limbs.

Title Influence of dynamic and static warm-up on muscle strength in climbers. Objective The aim of the thesis is to assess the influence of dynamic warm-up with Thera-Band and static stretching on maximal muscle strength and its time parameters of finger flexors in dominant upper extremity in climbers. Methods Eight active climbers participated in this testing (age 32.4 ± 5.5, body weight 69.4 ± 6.5, height 176 ± 6.4). Actual performance RP was according to the French scale ranging 6b to 8a. Probands' measurements proceeded in three different days. After a specific warm-up on "boulder wall" and static stretching and dynamic warm-up with Thera-Band without stretching, there was maximal muscle strength of fingers flexors on dominant (preferred) upper limb measured by using a specific climbing test on hangboard. The second measurement assessed maximal strength of finger flexors muscle and its time parameters while proceeding of the maximum hand-grip using a hand dynamometer. Results In the experiment, none of the hypotheses came to be confirmed. There was no significant influence of static stretching and dynamic warm-up with Thera-Band on maximal muscle strength of finger flexors and the time parameters in climbers. Conclusion Despite the failure to prove the influence of the static stretching and...

Title: The effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sports Objective: The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sport using the results obtained from previous studies dealing with the effect of the menstrual cycle on performance in sport. Methods: This thesis was carried out as a systematic review. Sources of information were scientific articles and studies from the PubMed, Scopus, EBSCOhost and EBSCOhost databases and literature related to the influence of the menstrual cycle on sports performance. Results: A total of 45 studies were selected for this study (9 cross-sectional, 33 cohort and 3 intervention studies). A total of 3086 probands (2364 from cross-sectional, 644 from cohort and 78 from intervention studies) aged 18 to 35 years were included. Conclusion: In most cases, no effect of MC on sports performance was found. If any effect was observed, the worst phase of MC for performance appeared to be the mid-luteal phase, while the best was the follicular phase. The effect of controlled dry weight training on trunk and upper limb strength in former swimmers and hobby athletes.
Srch, Jiří ; Jurák, Daniel (advisor) ; Zenáhlík, Aleš (referee)
Title: The effect of controlled weight training on trunk and upper limb strength in former swimmers and hobby athletes Objectives: The aim of our study was to determine whether the effect of several weeks of controlled intervention would improve upper limb and trunk muscle strength in a selected population group. Methods: We used a Biokinetic swim trainer and a Cybex device to measure upper limb and trunk strength. To determine body composition, the TANITA MC-980 was used. Data were processed in MS Excel and SPSS, using Wilcoxon nonparametric paired test and Cohen's d coefficient. Results: Both research groups showed improvements in upper limb and trunk muscle strength. However, none of the measured changes were statistically significant. Thus, the results can only be evaluated within our research sample. The probands with no previous competitive swimming career showed greater improvements in upper limb and trunk muscle strength than the proband group with a previous competitive swimming career. Sarcopenia in patients with Huntington's disease
Šoltésová, Mária ; Klempíř, Jiří (advisor) ; Růžičková, Lucie (referee)
Introduction: This cross-sectional, non-interventional, non-randomized, prospective and observational study aims to determine whether sarcopenia and its types occur in a cohort of 16 patients with Huntington's disease and, if so, at which stages of the disease. The study also aspives to identify patients with Huntington's disease who are at risk of sarcopenia (so-called presarcopenia). In addition, the study also compares the results of nutritional and functional status tests between a group of patients and healthy controls who were of the same sex, age and with no further acute or chronic disease that could significantly affect their nutritional and functional status. This was done to determine to what extent the patients exhibit reduced nutritional and functional parameters as compared with the healthy population. Methods: Individuals with clinically diagnosed Huntington's disease who agreed to participate were recruited. These individuals are outpatients of the Department of Neurology, VFN in Prague and the 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University in Prague. A series of tests were performed to assess the nutritional and functional status of the individual - questionnaires of functional status, self-sufficiency and sarcopenia, bioimpedance testing, strength tests using a hand dynamometer and...

Nývltová, Marcela ; Kobesová, Alena (advisor) ; Kraus, Josef (referee)
In the first part of the thesis Objectification of disorders of the fine motor skills of the upper extremities in the patients with hereditary neuropathies there are mentioned some brief informations about characteristics, classifications, clinical symptoms, deformities and testing of upper extremities, rehabilitation and treatment of CMT neuropathy. The practical part of this thesis is concerned with testing and evaluating of strength, fine motor skills and sensation of the upper extremities in the patients with CMT. For the measurement of the hand strenght the dynamometry and the functional muscle test are used. The Jebsen-Taylor test, the Nine-Hole Peg Test and the examination of static and dynamic handgrip rating are used. For the examination of the sensation the Nottingham Sensory Assessment is used. CMT neuropathy score and Overall Neuropathy Disability Scaleare are used for the classification of disability. The aim of this thesis is the comparison of the muscle strength and the function of the dominant and non-dominant hand. Partial aim of thesis is detection of the correlations between tests. According to the results CMT disease leads to the muscle strenght weakness and to worsening of the fine motor skills mainly of the dominant upper extremity. This may be the result of overwork weakness. For...
