Social Ethical Aspects of Welfare State
GALÍKOVÁ, Alice
Diploma paper is considering social ethical aspects of Welfare State. In the introduction is characterized Welfare State, it´s history, attitudes to it and the elementary typology of social state. The main part of the paper is divided into three parts - human being, family and state in relation to social state. Each chapter consists of describing part and social ethical critic of Welfare State effect, which was the aim of paper. From all three angles on that issue it appears that negative influence of contemporary (that means overinflated) is dominant. First of all it´s loss of responsibility for persnons own life, loss of motivation to work, own initiative and creativity and creating dependence on social benefits. There is obvious fundamental negative effect on family functionality, which social roles was mostly taken by state. Constant increasing of social benefits outgoings in exchange for political support of left-wing parties appears as destructive. This fact could eventually endanger democratic growth of state.
Attitudes of the ECCB members towards current social moral issues
Lavický, Jan ; Halama, Jindřich (advisor) ; Janečková, Hana (referee)
In my diploma thesis, I deal with five socio-moral topics and with the attitudes of members of The Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren (ECCB) towards them. These topics are: 1) Marriage and family 2) Homosexuality 3) Ethnical minorities 4) Dispute over the legacy of communism 5) Refugees and immigrants. First part of the thesis is dedicated to the official statements of the synod and the Synodal Council. Furthermore, this chapter reveals the process leading to adopting these positions. This rather descriptive part is followed by a sociological survey of opinions on the issues, mentioned above, held by members of ECCB. The aim of the survey is to figure out, whether these opinions are in agreement with the official statements. The final chapter is dedicated to data evaluation. The main goal of my diploma thesis is to find out what issues are for ECCB members easy to agree on and in which cases are the opinions rather individualized. Ethics, credibility and objectivity in the history of photography, especially journalistic This work deals with photography as with a socio-ethical pictorial medium, and covers the period from its invention to the mid-fifties of 20th century. I describe the history and development of ethical aspects of photography in the context of the process from image taking to its publication in the press, and its importance in the context of the time. The photos presented in the thesis are selected from those that have, due to their specific impact at the time they were taken, particular importance, and have extraordinary informative value related to ethical aspects in the historical development of photography. I mention photographers and photos that draw attention to the newly emerged ethical problems enable others to see pains, wickedness and injustice in the society, to rouse conscience of the society, and give impetus to correct these. In this respect, photography has played an important and irreplaceable role. There are also presented photographs documenting ethical failures of whole nations under the influence of monstrous ideologies of charismatic leaders, as a memento for future generations to help them to avoid similar events.
