The Influence of the European Union on Non-Member States of Europe
LINHART, Tomáš
The thesis entitled "The Influence of the European Union on Non-Member States of Europe" deals with the mutual relations of this institution with selected non-member states of Europe, more precisely the Republic of Serbia, the Kingdom of Norway and the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. The text defines the European Union's foreign policies and identifies its political-legal dynamics and interconnections with its preferred European states. The thesis aims to establish the economic-economic and environmental relations between the players. Another ambition of the thesis is to list the current bilateral relations, foreign, security and defence policies and to describe the mutual influence of the legislative framework in the respective areas. The thesis introduces the EU cooperation with non-member states, or rather describes the existing ties in many areas, and presents the circumstances of the rejection of the Kingdom of Norway's membership in this structure, the rationale of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland's withdrawal and abandonment from the multi-year membership, and on the contrary, the interests of the Republic of Serbia to become an equal member and partner of the European Union, following the example of other member states. In addition to the necessary historical insight into the integration development of the European Union, an essential part of the thesis is the justification of the continued or newly created non-membership of selected European states in the EU. However, there are numerous collaborations between the community and individual states, and it is these collaborations that the thesis text focuses on. The thesis assesses not only the relations and the reasons and benefits of being or not being a member of the European Union but is a comprehensive text for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, the Common Security and Defence Policy, Foreign Policy and the European Neighbourhood Policy.

This bachelor thesis deals with military partnership of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland with France at the time between the end of the Cold War and the signing of agreements to increase defence cooperation at conference in London in November 2010. This paper analyses the various factors that have contributed to the development of cooperation between these two countries and to aims to prove or disprove the thesis that the reason for an unprecedented convergence of Britain and France in the defence sector in 2010 are budget cuts, with which then British government responded to the economic crisis. This topic is divided into three chapters due to a need of separate analysis of individual factors. In the first part the study deals with the dynamics and development of military cooperation between both countries after the Cold War, with emphasis on the conclusions of the London summit in 2010. The second part analyses the financial situation of the Ministry of Defence in the period since 1990. 'Special relationship' between the United Kingdom and the United States and renascence of their relationship after September 11, 2001
Žáčková, Olga ; Rovná, Lenka (advisor) ; Nálevka, Vladimír (referee)
Diploma thesis 'Special relationship' between the United Kingdom and the United States and renascence of their relationship after September 11, 2001, deals with the special Anglo-American relationship in past and present. Both countries share common history, common language and threads of cultural heritage. The United States maintains close economic and military relationship with the UK. US military and intelligence cooperation in its current form dates back to the World War II and it was rooted in the doctrine of anti-Soviet Containment. US-UK 'special relationship' was widely seen as likely to expire with the end of the Cold War, but was revived following the September 11, 2001 terror attacks on the United States. Particular emphasis in explaining the renascence of the 'special relationship' in the world changed by terror is placed on the role of Prime Minister Tony Blair and his relationship to President George W. Bush.
Impact of brexit on Great Britain's foreign trade with the Czech Republic and Slovakia
Brousilová, Taťána ; Hlaváček, Michal (advisor) ; Paulus, Michal (referee)
The United Kingdom is the first country ever to leave European Union. The aim of this bachelor thesis is to analyse the impact of Brexit on the Czech and Slovak Republic. This thesis characterizes the foreign trade of the Czech Republic and Slovakia with the assumption that most of the impact of Brexit will depend on indirect trade links and not only on the foreign trade of the United Kingdom with the Czech Republic and Slovakia. This effect is expected due to Germany being the main trading partner of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Using Input-Output analysis and two symmetric Input-Output tables for these countries, the direct impact caused by the reduction in exports of the United Kingdom was estimated first. Using the World Input-Output Table, the direct and indirect impact on the Czech Republic and Slovakia was calculated. This impact is caused by the weakening of the trade relationships between the United Kingdom and the Member States of the European Union. The analysis confirms the expected increased impact of Brexit on the Czech Republic and Slovakia through indirect trade links. The analysis further identifies the production of motor vehicles, trailers and semi-trailers as the most affected sector, both in the Czech Republic and in Slovakia.
Processes of Radicalisation: Foreign Fighters from Western Europe Who Fought for Islamic State
Truchlá, Jana ; Bureš, Oldřich (advisor) ; Nocheva, Nikolena Hristova (referee)
The awareness that the threat of terrorism is no longer linked only to the Middle East, but has home-grown nature and arisen from young people living on European soil, alarmed the public and subsequently provoked increased interest in radicalisation research. 9/11 or the European terrorist attacks in London or Madrid have led to the increasing media attention of the phenomenon of radicalisation occurring among young European Muslims. At the beginning of the new millennium, the threat stemming from terrorism embodied one of the most urgent security challenges, whether for politicians or scholars. The academic and political interest in research into factors that increase the risk of radicalisation to violent extremism has ended up in many efforts to grasp and properly define radicalisation, or to outline the expected pathways of radicalisation (Veldhuis, 2009: 1). In my thesis, I build on these efforts of prominent experts and I examine the effect of the factors contributing to violent radicalisation like social networks, dissatisfaction with current reality, moral outrage, family and individual characteristics including criminal backgrounds. I look at the impact of these factors in case studies of three Western European countries - Belgium, France, and the United Kingdom. Except discussing specific...
