Ethnographic and Folcloric Aspects in the Work of František Ladislav Sál

This bachelor thesis is focused on the Eastern Bohemia figure of a regional significance - František Ladislav Sál (1867-1941). The aim of the thesis is to depict him as a representative of the generation of educated teachers - patriotic activists who had the amateur interest in ethnology and folklore studies. The opening section of the thesis introduces both his personal life and career. The reconstruction of these is based on the study of his archive heritage. Subsequent chapter deals with wider cultural-historical context with the emphasis on the history of pedagogy and ethnology. The principle focus of the thesis is the survey of Sál's educational and pedagogical papers in which he plentifully dealt with ethnographical material (such as fairy-tales, legends and children's folklore) by means of which he taught homeland study at primary schools.
The District court in Hradec Králové and its judiciary practice during the era of the First Czechoslovak Republic (1918-1938)

This diploma thesis attends to activities of the District Court in Hradec Králové in the period 1918 - 1938 with the incorporation in the context of the overall development of the judicial organization in the Czech lands and also historical evolution of the Hradec Králové region. The opening part deals with the First Republic's judiciary and legislature, as formed from the 19th century. After that follows an overview of organizational development judicial administration in the Czech lands in the era 1848 - 1938 and section devoted to history of the Hradec Králové region. The second part of this thesis is concretely aimed at scope of the District Court in Hradec Králové in the interwar period, in the process of the action in court, in the structure of the court, domains and distribution of judicial work with an analysis of the model cases. Title: Transformation of second housing in the Hradec Králové and Pardubice outskirts Author: Bc.Tereza Jedličková Department: Department of social geography and regional development Supervisor: RNDr. Dana Fialová, Ph.D. Abstract: In the Czech Republic, second housing represents an important way of spending leisure time or holidays. Since the 1990s, there has been observed a significant change in the use of second homes, especially in cottage sites in city outskirts as a part of suburbanization development. The aim of this work is to evaluate the status of second housing and these changes by example of outskirts of two czech provintial cities - Hradec Králové and Pardubice, which has not yet been given sufficient attention in previous studies. This work complements extensive researches realized by the Department of social geography and regional development, which pays a long-term attention to this subject. In order to maintain compatibility with these researches, there is used similar methodology that consists of the questionnaire survey. Emphasis is given not only on specifics of sites in outskirts of these cities and their mutual comparison, but also on their development, which reflects the historic development of the czech settlement and those cities themselves.
