The aim of my master degree graduation theses was gathering information about the work of the composer Peter Eben and above all his composition ?Windows? inspired by Marc Chagall´s painting. My work consists of three main parts. First is the composer´s biography, second the list of his compositions. In the third part I tried to focus on the musical analysis of the composition, as well as the interpretation problems of the work itself. I hope that my work will be of some help to the next interprets of the compositions of Peter Eben, particularily his ? Windows?.
The History of the French Horn

The thesis titled The History of the French Horn covers the overall development of the French horn, starting from the primeval ages, over the Middle Ages up to the modern period. Next chapters of the thesis focus on the development of this instrument at the royal court under the rule of the king Louis XIV as well as in the Lands of Bohemia. Further the thesis describes the emmergence of the invention horn. The thesis part dealing with classicism virtuosos provides a detailed biography of J.V.Stich ? Punto. The thesis culminates in XIX century, when the French horn reached its present form.
The Alto trombone

This diploma thesisdeals with the trombone origin and its development from the begenning up to the present time. The trombone, as it is known nowadays, has not actually changed as far as its structure since the 16th century. Except its development this work also tries to comparethe trombone teaching methods (France, Germany, Russia) and some outstanding trombone interpreters. This musica instrument must also be considered as the part and parcel of jezz. The chapter describes the jazz appearance and its styles in Chicago and New Orleans up to its styles in the sixties of the last century.

This thesis work deals with an outstanding trumpet player Jan Slabák. He is introduced here not only as an all-round interpreter, but also as a noted band master of his ensamble, Moravanka. As its leader, composer, arranger and of course a soloist Slabák created new sound of brass music. Origin of Moravanka is a millstone in the history of bands of this type. In this work there is also devoted space to another moravian brassband Mistříňanka. Its member were, same as Mr. Jan Slabák, students of Josef Frýbort. Together with Josef Ištvánek, another important teacher of young musicians, is mentioned in the final chapter of this work.
