Subject Information Gateway Art and Architecture (ART)

The thesis deals with the of subject gateway Art and architecture (ART). It is a project, which includes eleven libraries. Its final product is a web portal that acts as a union catalogue of all member libraries with additional functions such as information about exhibitions, book promotions and news. The first part of the thesis captures theoretical introduction to the subject gateways in general terms, defines the terminology, captures the history of the subject gateways in the Czech Republic and characterizes technologies that subject gateways are using. This sectional so includes technological solutions of the current website of subject gateway ART. The second part describes the origin and status of the subject gateway ART, including analysis of its website and knowledge from the controlled interview with coordinators of the gateway. The third section includes a case study of user searches in which was examined how the selected respondent from the target group of the project was working with the portal of the subject gateway ART and its features. This part also describes recommended optimizations of selected portal functions for better usage of the gateway.
