Assessing Selected Indicators of a Company Using Statistical Methods
Polák, Lukáš ; Raiskupová, Alena (referee) ; Doubravský, Karel (advisor)
The subject of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the financial situation of the company using selected financial indicators and subsequent clearance of data using statistical methods. The work is divided into theoretical part, which is focused on the financial analysis and time series issues. Furthermore, the practical part, which is used theoretical and given all the calculations. As the last part of the design, which deals with the practical part of the evaluation and subsequent suggestions for improvement or action in problematic indicators.
Extension of web-based interface for protein binding sites prediction
Polák, Lukáš ; Hoksza, David (advisor) ; Kruliš, Martin (referee)
Protein-ligand binding sites are positions on the protein structure where the protein interacts with other molecules. PrankWeb is a web server devel- oped at MFF UK allowing prediction of such places. These predictions are essential in fields such as bioengineering and computational drug discovery. The goal of this thesis was to update this web server, i.e., replace old and unsupported components with new ones. Another goal was to extend the server architecture to enable the simple addition of modules for the postpro- cessing of the predicted binding sites. These modules can be implemented either on the client side in case of simple computations, or on the server side in case of complex computations. As part of the thesis, we have implemented a client module for computing the volume of active sites and a server module allowing the docking of small proteins into predicted binding sites. The the- sis describes not only the interventions in the architecture but also provides a short introduction to the problem of protein-ligand binding sites and their prediction.
Male-Female polarity and Latino Family dynamics in Awarded Books by Authors of Latino Origin from United States after 2000
Polák, Lukáš ; Ženíšek, Jakub (advisor) ; Chalupský, Petr (referee)
This Master thesis focuses on the dynamic of the development and rethinking of the concept of the traditional Latino patriarchal family built up around male dominance. This work explores the changes of the traditional concept under the pressure of society of the United States in novels written in English by authors of Latino origin awarded for their novels after 2000. The most significant of them being Junot Díaz and his The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao; the other two are Mexican Female authors Stella Pope Duarte with If I Die in Juárez and Reyna Grande with Across a Hundred Mountains. The first part is purely theoretical, stemming from the concepts of traditional Latino masculinity, the role of the female and children in the patriarchal family in order to explain the clash of values and family crises which Latinos undergo once they are confronted with the different system of values of the United States and the consequences for all family members. In the second part, all three books are analyzed on the basis of the male - female polarity. Consequences for families are explored as seen by Latino/a authors. Finally, solutions and possible ways of escaping the vicious spiral of violence and tensions created by the changed paradigm penetrating the Latino family life as suggested in the novels are...

Analysis of computer games market in Czech Republic
Polák, Lukáš ; Koudelka, Jan (advisor) ; Stříteský, Václav (referee)
The main objective of the thesis is to describe situation on the current computer games market in Czech Republic and with use of own market research to reveal behavior, usage and preferences of consumers on this market. Based on this data significant market segments should be revealed and appropriate conclusions and recommendations useful for marketing communication should be given for them. Own market research is of quantitative character and is realized in form of Internet questionnaire. Data obtained from this questionnaire are analyzed with help of pivot tables in MS Excel. IBM SPSS Statistics 20 is used for uncovering market segments and expansion of their profiles. The output of the thesis is detection of 5 major market segments and formulation of basic recommendations on marketing mix level for each market segment.
Private aviation
Polák, Lukáš ; Zelený, Lubomír (advisor) ; Dvořák, Luboš (referee)
The aim of bachelor's thesis is to specify problems which private business aviation has to battle with currently and to offer possible solutions of them. Thesis consists of theoretical part and practical part. In theoretical part is stated history of aviation firstly and then all components of aeronautical infrastructure are described. Within the framework of aeronautical infrastructure are firstly described components of regulation system, then thesis deals with analysis of airports, air navigation services and basic principles of operation of air carriers are stated. Practical part of thesis continues with analysis of air carriers but with a focus on private aviation and describes their problems which are further analyzed and possible solutions of them are offered. In the last part of thesis is one of the options of solution described in the practical on an example of a particular firm. The annex refers to charts showing the development of air transport.
