Gladiators-historical development of the skill and craft Abstract Main aim of bachelor work named Roman gladiators - historical development of the skill and craft is to introduce the phenomenon of gladiator combat to its readers. Gladiator duels and gladiators are very specific issue of the ancient world. But nowadays there is too many myths and half-truths concerned. So another main aim of this work is to create authentic image of duels and its combatants. This work can be used as didactic tool. It can be used during the education in history lessons to improve the students' image of ancient roman history and dailiness. The work also includes the hooked illustration to improve the image of gladiators even more. Secondary literature had been my main source, but the obtained information was confronted with source-books to compare the books with each other and to verify the information they contain. I had used books which are dealing the issue of this work from many different angles, but mainly from historical and sociologic point of view.
