Information behaviour of the medical profession in relation to the modern library and information services in health care

Introduction. Library information systems, with its application to the computerization of health systems, belong to the group systems serving the medical education and research and they contribute by their functions to the accessing to high quality electronic and traditional information resources in health field. Due to the development of information and communication technologies there are barriers to their use by professional users. Questionnaire survey, focused on selected target groups of health professionals specializing in preparation for the medical profession, verified study habits of respondents and their knowledge of the existence, organization and design of library information services in health care field. A separate part of the research represents a section dedicated to services of the National Medical Library in the light of new web technologies for personalization of searching through the system MEDVIK. Methods. Research method of user behaviour of health care worker was employed and used on a selected target group of health professionals specializing in preparation for the medical profession. Selection of respondents was made with regard to the legal obligation of doctors to further education.
