The legal aspects of gender reassignment

1 ABSTRACT Dissertation on Legal Aspects of Gender Reassignment. Characteristics of the topic, definition of the aim of the thesis and methods. The statement that "Man is born free and is everywhere in chains" is not merely a well known sentence with which the Enlightenment philosopher Jean Jacques Rousseau opened his treatise On the Social Contract, for it reverberates the idea of universal human freedom. Therefore, this quotation can also be applied to the very sensitive issue that is the subject of this work. It has been argued in the literature that the issue of gender reassignment is a reminder that the social categories (male, female) that we encounter in everyday life are not a definitive description of the diversity of society, but a reflection of individual imagination. One cannot but agree with this, although there are other views. The first references to sexual mismatch can be seen in antiquity. Literature suggests that men at this time were characterised by femininity in their behaviour and character. Among the well-known medieval figures, Joan of Arc, who removed her breasts, cut her hair and dressed up as a man, can be mentioned. Sexual life in Parkinson's disease

The diploma thesis deal with the topic of sexual life of people suffering from the Parkinson's disease (PD). The theoretical part contains basic information about PD and the results of researches on sexuality of people with this illness, focusing on the agents that infl uence PD. The empirical part comprises of a research project implemented on a set of 103 people with PD. In order to describe the specifi cs of the patients' sexual lives, two sets of questions were designed (separate for men and women), containing a questionnaire on sociodemographic features, psychological (BDI-II, STAI) and sexuological questionnaires. The acquired data was statistically elaborated by means of the programme SPSS. Results of the sexuological questionnaires (GRISS, FSFI, SFŽ3, SFM, IIEF) show a decrease in sexual functions and a presence of sexual dysfunctions connected with PD. With the help of regressive models, it was elicited that in case of men with this illness, the most infl uential agent on their sexual life is depression and subjectively scoring the illness, in case of women the agent of depression and anxiety.

Objective: Presented paper deals with the topic of sexual functions of women with Parkinson's disease (PD). The research was aimed into detailed description of the sexual life and behaviour of women with PD and comparation of these characteristics with the research conclusions from the representative longitudinal research of sexual behaviour of the corresponding set of women in the Czech republic in 2008 which, was realized by Weiss and Zvěřina. Research sample: Forty eight women with PD (age 45 - 59), who took part in recondition residence for patients with PD between the years 2008 - 2010. Material and method: With the view of descripton and analysis of sexual functions a special questionnaire battery was created containing sociodemographic questionnaire, modified version of sexology questionnaire from the representative research of Weiss and Zvěřina, questionnaire of sexual functions of women (FSFI) and questionnaire of sexual satisfaction (GRISS). Results: The acquired data was statistically elaborated. Women with PD showed signifikant higher occurrence of sexual disorders (58% vs.16% in the control group). The most frequent sexual problems in this sample are: problems with reaching orgasm, lack of lubrication, hurtfulness of sexual intercourse. These women prefer significantly more often extracoital...

The theoretical part contains basic information about PD and the results of researches on sexuality of people with this illness and their partners, focusing on the agents that influence PD. The empirical part comprises of a research project implemented on a set of 103 people with PD and 84 partners of the people with PD. In order to describe the specifics of the patients' and partners sexual lives, four sets of questions were designed (separate for men and women), containing a questionnaire on sociodemographic features, psychological (BDI-II, STAI) and sexuological questionnaires.The acquired data was statistically elaborated by means of the programme SPSS.
