Extreme cases of snowfall in Czechia
Kolář, Šimon ; Müller, Miloslav (advisor) ; Jeníček, Michal (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with identification and evaluation of extremity by extreme cases of snowfall in Czechia in the period 1961-2019. Identification of extreme events takes on bases from Weather extremity index and maximum depth of fresh snow on weather stations. Extreme events are evaluated with Weather extremity index and Regional Snowfall index in relation to the affected people or with tool of maximum depth of fresh snow. The results of the diploma thesis bring a more comprehensive climatological view of the relatively hitherto neglected issue of the extremity of this winter hydrometeorological hazard in Czechia, but also of the causative synoptic situations leading to these extreme events. The results show a close connection of the point extremity by the events to higher and mountainous locations, which is related to the intensifying windward effect of precipitation. Important from this point of view is the area of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids, which is characterized by the highest number of extreme events, during which the height of the national maximum depth of fresh snow was recorded here. An example of an extreme event was 14th October 2009, when up to 65 cm of depth of fresh snow fell on station Lysá hora in a single day. In the case of area extremity, the link to lower and medium...
Case study of friendship in MMMORPG games

Bachelor thesis Case study of friendship in MMORPG Games aims to find out what meanings for MMORPG players have friendships within game, how these relationships are formed and what are the dynamics based on sociological theories of self-presentation. The theoretical part describes the concepts MMORPG, friendship and self-presentation and explanis context to the reader. At the same time it acts as a basis for the practical part of the work. Practical part presents the methodology of qualitative research based on interviews with informants. It further discusses the analysis of these interviews and their subsequent intepretation. The study shows that social relationships are important part of the game for MMORPG players. It also shows that personal contact is needed to establish a friendship.
A Social Enterprise Law As Means To Combat Social Exclusion
Kolář, Šimon ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Stehlík, Petr (referee)
Thesis "Analysis of legislative and social conditions of supporting social entepreneurship in the Czech Republic" delves into the issue of social entepreneurship in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the thesis is to analyze both social and legislative conditions that actors use to battle social exclusion through social entepreneurship in the Czech Republic. To achieve this, a case study needed to be exercised; interviews with actors from both employers and employees of these businesses were carried out. Moreover, issues that these businesses have to deal with were identified and are described as well as benefits for the target population. Furthermore, conditions that have to be met in order to receive funding from the ESF are described. The way these conditions are designed and ultimately evaluated is discussed in detail. Using actor centered institutionalism, actors that take part in discussions regarding the legislation, which is currently being prepared, are identified and described. Interactions between these actors are discussed and, additionally, recommendations for the further development of social entepreneurship in the Czech Republic are being put forward.
Heavy snowfall in Czechia and snowfall extremity evaluation
Kolář, Šimon ; Müller, Miloslav (advisor) ; Nedělčev, Ondřej (referee)
The thesis deals with selected heavy snowfall events and evaluation of their extremity in Czechia in the period 2009-2013. Based on a literature search, four methods to assess the extremity of heavy snowfall events are described. In Czechia, the only tool used so far is the highest recorded depth of fresh snow, which represents an indication of point extremities. Another option is to evaluate the size of the area with the depth of fresh snow according to the criteria of the Integrated Warning Service System. The third way is the regional snowfall index (RSI), considering not only the size of the affected area but also the number of population in it. It would also be possible to assess the heavy snowfall events with the help of the weather extremity index (WEI), which would quantify the area distribution of return periods of depth of fresh snow at meteorological stations. In the second part of the thesis, the extremity of four selected events is evaluated using the first three criteria and the differences resulting from the tools used are pointed out. The results of the extremity assessment of individual heavy snowfall events according to different indices show a difference in the results in the extremity assessment for the same event depending on the evaluation index used. We record the maximum...

A Social Enterprise Law As Means To Combat Social Exclusion
Kolář, Šimon ; Potůček, Martin (advisor) ; Čampulková, Jitka (referee)
Thesis "A Social Enterprise Law As Means To Combat Social Exclusion" concerns social enterprises in the Czech Republic, as well as options by which these enterprises could be supported in a way that would make them more effective in socially integrating their employees. Based on the fact that there is currently no law regarding social enterprises in effect, it is hard for the state to provide support for these enterprises. The main goal of the thesis is to provide a recommendation for such law with regard to social integration of the enterprises' employees. To reach this goal, a case study design is used; the author has visited four social enterprises in the Czech Republic and, using grounded theory, described the way that they currently operate. Moreover, mechanics and/or conditions through which social enterprises help their employees to integrate are described, as well as how these mechanics could be improved upon legally. Furthermore, the institutionalism theory is used to analyze the current state of actors and institutions important for the issue. Results of the analysis are then described and interpreted and suggestions for the would-be law is laid forward.
