Ideological council for preservation of monuments, memorials and memorial plaques in Czechoslovakia in the years between 1955-1989

This diploma thesis deals with activities and operation of Ideological council for preservation of monuments, memorials and memorial plaques, that worked in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. Ideological council was occupied with large amount of memorials and monuments, their adjustment and construction, determined their priority and council itself has undergone dynamic development. Aim of the thesis is to capture activities, internal affairs and ideological backround of the Ideological council. The main source for this thesis are archive materials from The National Archive, which document activity and course of the Ideological council.
Czechs from Zelów and their contemporary life in the Czech Republic

The bachelor thesis "Czechs from Zelov and their contemporary life in the Czech republic" makes an attempt to show the process of changes in life and identity of people participating in the return migration from Zelov in Poland (in Polish Zelów) and their descendants. It deals with return migration after the Second World War and next changes in collective identity. Czechs in Zelov built their identity on the connection of religious and language-and-ethnic awareness. They came to Zelov in 1803 from Silesia, where they were from 1740s as religious emigrants. The thesis also includes this history of the migration and life in Zelov. Than the thesis presents outcomes of field research, which took place from October 2011 - to February 2012. The research supposes that the descendants are now interested in their history and traditions of Zelov. The example of interest is citizens association Exulant. The research is consisted of interviews and questionnaires from nine protestants parishes in the Czech republic. They show that these people declare they are not interested in Zelov. On the other hand, observations and pastor's point of view indicate that the life of them is influenced by Zelov in many directions. Motives and forms of travelling

Motives and forms of travelling, Fraňková Soňa The author's work analyzes three basic motives that lead to travel and subsequently introduces in more detail travel's four institutionalized forms and how these forms are realized. The three basic motives discussed by the author include; escape, instruction, and necessity. In addition, the forms are introduced as ways to implement these themes. The first distinctive modes of travel is described as pilgriming and trips for sacredness. The second form is romantic meandering which is the conscious act of leaving one's home in Romantic times. The third form discussed is wandering which through one realizes escape, instruction, and necessity. Finally, the last option is hiking. All these forms are presented in terms of theirhistorical development and specifics that are inherent within. An integral part of the work is also the comparison of these forms with an emphasis on their interaction.
Lexical aspects of Czech-Slovak langugage relations in the period of National Revival

The thesis focuses on the issue of Czech-Slovak language relations in the period of the National Revival, with a concentration on the lexical similarities and differences and the projection of the language contact in texts and lexicographical works in the Czech environment. The core of the thesis is the cultural and social context of the works of Vilém Dušan Lambl, conditions of the genesis and analysis of his Short Slovak dictionary, published in 1848 in the Journal of the Czech Museum. Lambl's dictionary, which has not been paid any special linguistic attention yet, is one of the first lexicographic attempts of Slovak and Czech lexical confrontation. City museum in Příbram between 1886 and 1944

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to describe historical development of the City museum in Příbram since its establishment at the end of the nineteenth century until its temporary closure through occupation during the Second World War. The bachelor thesis responses to the present absence of monograph existence, which would approximate the process of formation and successive functioning of the museum. Therefore, it deals with the establishment and consecutive more than fifty years lasting operation of the museum in Příbram, emphasis is put on the process of formation of the institution and problems involved, then on its museum, scientific and popularization activities and also on museum collection creation. The key events connected with the development of the museum in the period concerned are being described there, a particular attention is given to Ladislav Malý, founder and long-standing custodian of collections in the City museum in Příbram, who devoted nearly all his life to this institution. Finally, activities of the museum and its contribution to the mining city development since 1886 until 1944 have been evaluated there.
Implementation of New Legislation in the Field of Cultural Heritage in Czechoslovak Museums After the Second World War on the Example of Museums in Písek and České Budějovice

The presented work deals primarily with the influence of Act No. 22/1958 Coll., On Cultural Monuments, Act No. 54/1959 Coll., On Museums and Galleries, and similar laws valid for the Slovak part of republic on the functioning of Czechoslovak museums. The influence of these legal regulations is examined on the examples of museums in Písek and České Budějovice, as these are typical representatives of museums of national history on the district and regional level. The work analyzes mainly the so-called cultural- educational activities of museums, it also focuses on collection activities, staffing and financial stability of museums. The secondary goal of this thesis is to describe the development of Czechoslovak monument care and museology after the end of the Second World War.
Sázava monastery as a place of memory: analysis of the place and presentation of its current historical role

The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to present a view of the Sázava Monastery in the context of the place of memory, especially by analyzing its current historical role and form of exhibition, to define the nature of missing topics in its history, including practical installation, which is a historically neglected chapter. The basis of the work is the history of the Sázava Monastery and the importance of the place of memory. It will focus on the theory and practice of creating an installation, in the form of a description and analysis of the current exhibition on Slavic education, which has housed the Sázava Monastery since 1983. It will also present a form of exhibition in other Benedictine monasteries and marginally monasteries of other orders. The next part will include the topic of neglected chapters from history, including a practical proposal. The work will include both the methodological part in the field of memory studies and the history of a particular place, as well as the practical part of the original design, all necessarily based on work with sources and literature. Reflection of Slovak national revival in dramas (1830-1875)

The turn of the 18th and 19th centuries is well known for the Age of Enlightenment and for the formation of nations which began to realize the need for their own identity. One of those nations were Slovaks and their national revival will be introduced in the first chapter of this thesis. In the second and third chapter we will analyze the works of two authors, Ján Chalupka and Ján Palárik, in the historical and social conditions that years. In the last chapter we will summarize our analysis of dramas and we will try to explain how that time influenced life and society.
