Preparation of polyethylene terephthalate model microplastics
Hrušková, Adéla ; Fojt, Jakub (referee) ; Kučerík, Jiří (advisor)
Microplastics are ubiquitous in all ecosystems and for that reason they became a subject of many studies in recent years. Due to their stability, potential release of harmful additives and ability to adsorb pollutants, they pose a threat to the environment. It was found that certain microplastics can, under certain conditions, have toxic effects on fauna, flora and human health. Most of studies include laboratory or mesocosmos testing, therefore, it is important to master their preparation. To study the environmental impact of microplastics, it is essential to be able to prepare these particles, especially required type, shape and size. This bachelor thesis deals with the preparation of model polyethylene terephthalate particles using physical and chemical methods. The physical preparation is based on the cryomilling, in which individual milling parameters are tested and it is investigated their effect on the milling efficiency and the size of the milled particles. The chemical preparation method is based on the dissolution of polyethylene terephthalate in a solvent and subsequent precipitation. In this case, the size, shape of the prepared particles and the content of residual solvent adsorbed on the particles were monitored. At the end of the work, it was concluded that the tested preparation methods are not suitable to prepare microplastics useable for environmental studies because the prepared particles do not have the required size or contain the residues of the used solvent.
Development of somatosensory system in the context of the postural - locomotion system and the as sessment possibilities
Hrušková, Adéla ; Zounková, Irena (advisor) ; Smolíková, Libuše (referee)
The aim of the work is to describe the somatosensory system function development in the context of postural- locomotion function in preschool age and to describe the possible assessment of this function in preschool children, on the basis of research. The theoretical chapters deal with the development of the somatosensory system and the postural- locomotion system, also with the physical development of the preschool child. The practical part presents the outcomes of the research, namely how the development and usage of somatosensory signals by central nervous system is influenced by growth of the preschool child's organism. Lastly, the work presents the possibilities how to assess the preschool child's somatosensory system in common physioterapeutic practice. A preschool child's case report is included.
Postconflict Reconstruction in Afghanistan from the Point of View of Institutional Economics
Hrušková, Adéla ; Dubský, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Matějka, Zdeněk (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the postconflict reconstruction in Afghanistan from the american invasion in 2001 with the special focus on institutional reforms which were implemented there and whether these reforms caught on and function properly. Firstly, I deal with the conclusions which the theoretics of institutional economics came to regarding the role of institutions in economic development, how economic and political institutions come to existence and develop and if it is possible to change country's instituional environment. The institutions which lead to economic growth are above all equality before law, equality of opportunities, rule of law and free bussiness and trade. However, not all countries developed this optimal instituional framework because of different economic and political history. These countries then suffer from poverty and instability and in many of these cases the international community intervene to change this unfavourable situation. However, as many these unsuccessful interventions show, to change the country's institutional environment is not easy. Spontaneously or from below developed institutions are deeply rooted in society and if they are not in accordance with new institutional reforms, they will probably not function properly or will even lead to opposite results. In the case of Afghanistan, many years of civil war resulted in creation of war economy and total fall of state institutions while this power vacuum wal filled by rise of local warlords who, with the help of armed militias, seized control over number of regions and made a living by illegal trade. The reform process started after the successful military invasion in 2001 and after the fall of Taliban regime with the goal to establish liberal democracy of western type in Afghanistan was not successful. Most of the country is again under the control of Taliban, economy consists mostly of opium growing and illegal trade and the country is still extremely poor and instable and in spite of the change of formal rules actually nothing has changed- Afghanistan is still war economy and fallen state.
Roots, development and resolution of the ethnic conflict in Kosovo
Hrušková, Adéla ; Havlová, Radka (advisor) ; Dubský, Zbyněk (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the ethnic conflict in Kosovo from the Middle Ages to the present with the special focus on factors which have led to its outbreak and escalation, on its dynamics, ways of resolution and current situation.Factors, which have led to the outbreak and escalation of the ethnic conflict in Kosovoare of ethnic and cultural, political, social and economic nature, they complement and influence each other and the result was and still is very serious and lingering conflict between two ethnic groups which inhabit Kosovo -- Kosovo Serbs and Albanians. On the case of Kosovo we can observe many different ways of conflict resolution -- both conflict and non-conflict ones. Nevertheless, these efforts have not contributed to the final resolution of the situation and phases of latent conflict have many times varies with phases of escalation. In 2008 Kosovo declared independence on Serbia which however considers this act as illegal, as well as for example Russia. On the other hand, most of the countries of the EU and NATO recognised the independent Republic of Kosovo. The problem of Kosovo's independence and ethnic conflict in Kosovo in general influences international relations and divides international community.
