Changes in communication strategies among people with hearing disabilities during the COVID-19 pandemic

The bachelor thesis is focused on individuals with hearing impairment and changes in their communication since the COVID-19 pandemic arrived and consequential safety measures were imposed. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part, the terminology and areas, which are necessary in order to understand the given issue, are defined. The first chapter is mostly concerned with defining hearing, hearing impairment and various approaches to people with hearing impairment. The second chapter introduces a general view on interpersonal communication, particular communication characteristics of people with hearing impairment and choices they have which can help them communicating with the rest of the society. The third chapter describes a situation regarding the COVID-19 pandemic and the safety measures which may have had an adverse impact on individuals with hearing impairment. The main goal of the practical part is to find out whether the communication of people with hearing impairment changed in regard to the pandemic and in what circumstances it may have been so. The thesis titled The quality of life among hearing impaired people focuses on the current issue regarding the assessment of the quality of life in adult hearing impaired people in the Czech Republic. The conceptual basis of the submitted work is the current professional paradigm, with the emphasis on well-being in the lives of individuals with specific needs. The text deals with the multidimensional character of the concepts of the quality of life and the quality of life relating to health. It illuminates the subjective and the objective part of this broad and current concept. One theoretical chapter focuses on the area of hearing impairment in adult people in connection with the aspects which are bound to the quality of life in this part of the population. Mentioned are the personality traits of a hearing impaired person and the current social dilemma, which is connected to hearing loss, and is projected in the overall assesment of the quality of life of the people with this sensory handicap. Values in adolescents with behavioral disorders

This rigorous thesis' topic is the hierarchy of values in adolescents with behavioral disorders. The thesis is divided into a theoretical part, containing four chapters, and a research part comprising two chapters. The first chapter of the theoretical part explains the origins of special education, its development and benefits, its historical stages, as well as behavioral disorders in general. The second chapter focuses on behavioral disorders in childhood and adolescence, their classification, causes, diagnostic criteria, prevention and remedies. The third chapter discusses values and value orientation, their classification, organisation and division. It also includes attitudes, persuasion and preferences of values in adolescents. The last chapter of the theoretical part is dedicated to personality and its components, the developmental periods of pubescence and adolescence, and the importance of family for growing children. The empirical, or research, part's purpose is to uncover which values are held by adolescents with behavioral disorders. Parents of Deaf Students in Mainstream Schools

My diploma thesis is focused on inclusive education of pupil with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic from the parents' point of view. The theoretical part specializes in the individual chapters on hearing impairment generally, on the possibilities of rehabilitation and use of compensating aids or on logopedic (speech therapy) intervention. Further, the thesis describes education of pupils with hearing impairment in the Czech Republic at schools for pupils with hearing impairment but also at schools with the main education stream. It introduces the possibilities of education and support from the child's birth to the university study. It also introduces foreign models of education of pupils with hearing impairment in 4 chosen countries. The goal of empiric part was to chart the current situation in inclusive education of pupils with hearing impairment from the parents' point of view; to describe pros and cons of inclusion, cooperation with teachers, adaptation and education with intact classmates and also to find out how the inclusion is perceived by teachers and if their opinions are in accordance with parents' opinions. Communication abilities of pupils with autism in the Czech Republic and Great Britain

The special educational needs teaching practice varies in many European countries. From the Czech Republic with its strictly differentiated Special Educational Needs framework which belongs under the Special Education, to Great Britain that has great inclusive policies and differentiates the National Curriculum according to each pupil learning needs. During my work experience within special education needs teaching practice in Great Britain and the Czech Republic I have observed the benefits of each system. I would like to share the experience so I have narrowed my interested to the pupils with autistic spectrum disorder and their communication skills. To find the right communication approach is the crucial point in education of pupils with autistic spectrum disorder. In course of five years I have been observing six different pupils with autistic spectrum disorder based in various special schools in the Czech Republic and Great Britain. I have noted which communication approaches were chosen at the beginning of their school entrance and how it influenced their success in the learning subject of Jazyk a jazyková komunikace and English. Home for the elderly

Subject of the master thesis is detail design documentation of a home for the eldery. My building is located in the center of the village Chomýž. The thesis includes architectural and structural designs, concept of technical systems and assessment of the building’s energy performance. Home for eldery contains 8 apartments. My building is fully wheelchair accessible. The building has two floors. On the first floor there are four apartments, canteen, sanitary facilities and technical equipment. On the second floor there are four apartments, community centre, doctor and hairdresser. The foundations are made of concrete foundation strips. Load-bearing walls and non-load-bearing walls in all floors are made of ceramic blocks. The ceiling structure on all floors consists of precast floor slabs. The staircase is also designed as precasted. The building is covered with a flat extensive green roof. Thermal insulation of the facade will be made of polystyrene. The drawings were elaborated in AutoCAD software.
