Possibilities of physiotherapy and physical activity for patients after acute coronary syndrome and their education

The bachelor thesis deals with the issue of physiotherapy in patients after acute coronary syndrome. The main aim of the bachelor thesis is to highlight the importance of physiotherapy in early hospital care not only as a prevention of complications of hospitalization and prevention of deconditioning, but also as psychological support for the patient. That is, to educate the patient about regimen measures important for preventing disease relapse and limits of physical exertion, to motivate lifestyle changes and to reduce influential risk factors so that ACS is not a disabling problem for patients. To this end, educational material designed not only for patients after ACS, but also for the general and professional public will be used. This thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part summarizes the knowledge about the etiopathogenesis of ACS, including the most common cause of atherosclerosis. It also describes the diagnosis of the disease and the course of treatment including surgery, pharmacological treatment and the principles of cardiovascular rehabilitation. Ivona Heřmanová Title of the thesis: The use of physiotherapy procedures in patients with compartment syndrome in the context of arterial closures Abstract This thesis deals with physiotherapy methods used in the treatment of compartment syndrome. The first part describes the overview of the theoretical knowledge in anatomy, defines the basic concepts and finally deals with individual physiotherapy practices. The research is focused on comparing the Vojta method and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation in two patients with the diagnosis of compartment syndrome. One patient underwent therapy using proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation, the second patient Vojta reflex locomotion, both in the range of five therapies in five consecutive days. When comparing the two patients achieved a significant improvement in muscle strength. The objectification of measuring muscle strength muscle test was used according to Janda. Ivona Heřmanová Title of Bachelor Thesis: Physical activity and treatment of patients with acute coronary syndrome Abstract: The subject matter of this bachelor thesis is the relationship between acute coronary syndrome (ACS) and physiotherapy. The theoretical part summarizes up to date facts about pathophysiology, etiology, diagnostics and ways of treatment of ACS. It includes a specific form of physiotherapy used not only during in-house hospital treatment but also as a follow up treatment after patient's discharge. The aim of the practical part was to emphasize the importance and implementation of the patients' physical activity and change of their lifestyle after discharge from hospital. Anamnesis, examination and individual therapy was recorded in each patient's case history file. Feedback was obtained in a form of a questionnaire sent to patients for completion, with their prior agreement, two weeks after their discharge from the hospital. Lenka Chvojková Title of bachelor thesis: Physiotherapy in patients with long-term heart assist devices Abstract: This thesis deals with the issue of physiotherapy in patients after the implantation of long-term heart assist devices (in this case of the type HeartMate 3). The goal of this thesis is to find the possibilities of physiotherapy within cardiovascular rehabilitation after surgical implantation of heart assist device and subsequent application of this knowledge in practice. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical parts. The theoretical part consists of basic information about the heart muscle and heart failure as the most common cause of implantation of the long-term heart assist device. Next, both heart assist devices in general and concretely HeartMate 3 are presented. Finally, there is a chapter devoted to cardiovascular rehabilitation. The practical part was created based on professional practice in the IKEM hospital in Prague at the turn of July and August 2020. There is an elaboration of case studies of two probands using functional testing such as the 2 Minute Walk Test and Barthel Index. In the theory part, a literary research has been conducted, examining the general introduction of the topic. Later, this research is going deeper into themes such as aetiology, pathogenesis, classification and posibilities of the therapy which are individually dependent on the clinical aspect. The physiotherapy is the main agent of the conservative approach so the chosen physiotherapeutic approaches or concepts has been presented and later used in the practical part. Abstract: Possibilities of influencing the pain of the shoulder joint trough physiotherapy techniques aimed at axial system. The target group, were active volleyball players. Three patients, with pain in the shoulder area, were participating in total five meetings, in which were included four therapies within one month. The main goal was active work with axial system without using shoulder, in order to find out, if those two structures influence each other. The other goal was elimination of pain. In the theoretical part was described anatomy and kinesiology of shoulder girdle and axial system, then biomechanics of volleyball spiking, shoulder dysfunctions and physiotherapeutic techniques focused on this specific issue. In the practical part are included three case reports of patients. The consequences are based on subjective evaluation of pain and on functional tests. Title: Education of motional and regime therapy at patients after acute coronary syndrome Abstract: The goal of this study is to introduce the reader to the problematics of acute coronary syndromes. The outcome of this work is an educational material, which will be helpful for patients and for medical proffessionals. It will help pacients with following the needed regime therapy and physical therapy. This material also makes patient's education of these therapies much easier and lasting. This work focuses on risk factors of cardiovascular diseases and acute coronary syndromes, as well as the phases of rehabilitation program and the proces of education itself. It also includes two case studies which prove the effect and utility of the educational material as well as the need of education itself. In order to succesfully educate a patient, we need for him to be motivated and well informed about his disease. These two are unfortunately the two aspects of rehabilitation, which are usually the weakest. With the right education, we can motivate the patient to inhereting the healthy lifestyle and to making it last. BACHELOR THESIS ABSTRACT Name: Tereza Vedrová Supervisor: Mgr. Ivona Heřmanová Title of this thesis: Possibilities of physiotherapy intervention in patiens before cardiac surgery. Abstract: This thesis deals with the options in physiotherapy intervention for patients before cardiac surgery. The theoretical part contains information about the anatomy of the chest and heart focused on basic concepts and biomechanics breathing. It also contains a section dedicated to the field of cardiac surgery, the most common indications in cardiac surgery and possible surgical approaches. A large part is devoted to the possibilities of physiotherapy in the preoperative period, primarily respiratory physiotherapy, exercise therapy and patient education by the physiotherapist. The practical part describes a case of a patient prior to cardiac surgery. Subsequently, the usefulness of physiotherapy for the patient himself is tested in a feedback interview with the same patient after the procedure. Information useful for patients before cardiac surgery, including examples of respiratory and fitness exercises are presented in an instructional manual.
