New Old Brno Return of living to the city centres
Žáková, Michaela ; Kaštánková, Jana (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The Master´s Thesis showcases a proposal of housing in the centre of the city. The proposal is located near the historical centre of the city Brno. The thesis is mostly done as a urban study and partly in a detail of a architectural study. It includes wider analysis of the current state plus the new proposal, street design and city block detail. In this proposal I think about the need of a green space in the city. In my thesis you are being introduced to few unordinary houses. They are not traditional in a term of city block houses, because they are solitaires. Those forms bring new possibilities for green space in the city and inhabitant´s satisfaction.
Postindustrial city Urban development study of Brno - east of the city
Mihaľák, Peter ; Kaštánková, Jana (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
ŠPITÁLKA CONCEPT Urban design of Špitálka is trying to create a new residential neighborhood near the center. The combination of old residential and multifunctional buildings is logically complemented by a new one. New residential units replace the post-industrial parts of the emerging brownfield. This does not mean, however, an extensive rehabilitation of the historical building structure. Every object is thoroughly analyzed, considered for its new fulfillment. The basics are connections between old and new buildings. Keeping the high-rise building and many historic buildings creates a prerequisite for preserving Genia loci of that place to the fullest extent possible. At the same time, with new interventions, it is meaningfully and functionally clarified, logically linked, creating new specifications and qualities of space for a good living in the city. It is also about improving the cycling and pedestrian traffic to the city center, street views of Brno's dominant landmarks (Petrov, Kostel sv.), enlarging of the uncomfortably narrow Cejl street, or cultivating the public space with greenery (alleyways, parking lots, parks, . Individual urban blocks offer variable options for typological solutions. The place has the ambition to create a diverse residential neighborhood for private owners, tenants, social and cooperative housing. The goal is not to create formal gestures, but to adequately supplement and sensitively replace the broken parts of the neighborhood.

Pelka, Filip ; Kaštánková, Jana (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to design new urban planning around the Veveří city street in the section from Konečné náměstí to Mučednická street and to design a multifunctional complex that will help to spatially define this city main street. In this work I focus on the mentioned multifunctional building as one fragment of the Veveří district. Furthermore, I more clearly define the before-space of the MU Faculty of Law and connects Bjornson Park with the proposed multifunctional building through a green street corridor. By adding new functions to the mentioned under-used center, this place becomes more attractive and its potential is used to create a new social life. In particular, there will be space for shops and services, as well as new housing and job opportunities for the people of Brno.
Completion of a city block Urban development study of a city block between the streets Koliště, Cejl a Vlhká
Zatloukalová, Denisa ; Foretník, Jan (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The subject of the thesis is the architectural design of two selected town houses in different positions. One is situated in the Koliště street, the other in the Vlhká street. The bachelor thesis is an example of two different approaches to the design of the town houses, the houses are connected by the courtyard and share the common parking. The design reacts to the noise from nearby streets and tries to show the possibility of creating quality housing in the center of Brno even under these unfavorable conditions. The concept of a classic town house is used for the whole building, the ground floor is commercial and the other floors are used for housing. Parking is provided by three-storey underground garages with a capacity of 254 parking spaces.
The Building on Obilní trh
Zámečník, Kristián ; Šerek, Jiří (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The Grain market is an unmissable public space in the image of Brno. However, its southern part has not yet been completed and hides a huge potential for the development of the city. The form of public administration and its authorities has long faced criticism. Examples of modern, open, flexible and sustainable public buildings are minimal. The social discourse is calling for them more and more strongly and architects must have a ready response. The aim of the bachelor thesis is to design a modern office building that will adequately complement the Grain Market space with its mass and will be an architectural manifesto for future state offices. The building will provide facilities for 200 civil servants, space for catering, promotion of the office‘s activities, accommodation for 20 guest workers and other necessary facilities to ensure the operation of the building.
Residential Complex in Brno - Komín
Dušková, Barbora ; Nový, Vítězslav (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The subject of the bachelor thesis was to design a residential complex in the area between the existing gardens and two streets - Houškova and Pastviny, in the city of Brno - Komin. Given the disparities parcel proposal, I divided it into three parts. In the lower part, which has only little elevation, I designed four apartment buildings with just 3 floors. Those buildings are creating a public space between them selves. In the second, the middle section there are two types of townhouses and the third part is due to its steep slope designed for two terraced houses. Thanks to the diversity of housing you will find people of all ages and different social stratacoming to live here. Due to the excess height of apartment buildings and houses seem almost similar and there is no high-rise dominant. Houses naturally follow the sloping terrain.
Completion of a city block Urban development study of a city block between the streets Koliště, Cejl a Vlhká
Zámečníková, Barbora ; Foretník, Jan (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
An elaborate territory spanning the streets of Koliště, Cejl and Vlhká is situated near the historical core of the city. The character of the neighborhood lies in the historical events of the 19th century - the disturbance of the walls and the formation of a circular class. Eight objects are designed in the designed area - 2 on the street Vlhká and 6 on the street Koliště. The effort of the project was ended with a block of the city, following the surrounding construction with mutual respect. The exterior of the objects is designed with a classic fine white color. The proposal also includes the urban area transfer to the City Directorate of the City of Brno, as well as the relocation of the Vlhká Street space to create a fully-fledged area of the square. On both streets - Koliště and Vlhká are newly-built long-standing parking places enriched by the linear planting of trees to bring greenery in the area and its surroundings. The overall concept is designed to make its functionality and disposition effective, as well as an effort to react to the surrounding environment. Designed objects completing the city block are polyfunctional objects with a vertical division functions. Part of the design is also the connection of the streets Koliště and Vlhká for the pedestrians through the passage through the inter-building between the buildings. The main idea of creating the interior is in contrast to the busy street Koliště. The proposal proposes the completion of blocks as a unification of the whole territory.
