Automatic Creation of Organ Overtures for Church Songs
Maňák, Ondřej ; Černocký, Jan (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
The focus of this master's thesis is an automatic creation of organ overtures for church songs from both theoretical and practical points of view. Organ overture is a short introduction to a church song. According to the fact that it can be described by a finite set of rules, it is possible to use techniques for solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems. An effective instrument to develop such system can be C++ programming language and Gecode library.
Music Improvisation
Angelov, Michael ; Hradiš, Michal (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
The thesis deals with problems concerning algorithmic music compositon, especially the domain of musical improvisation. There is an opening presentation of some of existing tools and approaches that are commonly used in domain of computer music. Consenquently there is a proposal of a new system, using main principles of markov chains and prediction suffix trees (PST) with description of its implementation. The main task of developped application is to analyze an external MIDI recording that is proposed to the system by user and create a new and inovative musical material in MIDI format that would sound close to the original recording giving an impression of a computer improvised music to the listener.
Rule-Based Melody Harmonization
Kuchár, Pavol ; Žák, Pavel (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
Bachelor thesis deals with the issue of computer aided composition. The aim of the thesis was to create the program, which implements several rules of music theory and using of CSP determines appropriate tones for harmonization of melody. The result is presented in score and MIDI file.
Dictation System - User Interface
Svoboda, Martin ; Fapšo, Michal (referee) ; Schwarz, Petr (advisor)
The term dictation system we understand the software system, which consists of two main parts. The first part is recognizer spoken word, the second is the user interface for user interaction and processing output recognizer. This work focuses on the user interface dictation system, a description of comunication between the recognizer and the user interface, the correction of words coming from the recognizer and transfer numbers from verbal to numerical form.
Game Environment from Music
Vaněk, Jiří ; Fapšo, Michal (referee) ; Hradiš, Michal (advisor)
The topic of this work is game environment generation from music. The main subject of this work is the music analysis. I am dealing with the problem of finding relevant information in music, which would be useful for game generating. The design of the system for music analysis, presented in this work, is based on the theory of signal processing and statistical classification. The proposed analysis of music is focused mainly on a beat detection, musical genre recognition and song segmentation. The second part of the work deals with the design of a game, which generates its environment from the data obtained in the music analysis. I have implemented the complete system for the music analysis and a prototype of the game, in which it is possible to evaluate the results from the analysis. The implementation and the achieved results are described in the conclusion of this work.
Query-by-Example Spoken Term Detection
V práci popisujeme, analyzujeme a srovnáváme tři různé přístupy ke QbE STD v jazykově závislých a jazykově nezávislých podmínkách, s jedním a pěti příklady na dotaz.
Artistic Use of Fractal Filters (Context-Free Grammars)
Mederly, Peter ; Seeman, Michal (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
This bachelor's thesis is dealing with the use of context-free grammars in graphic aplications for generating images and mainly with generating context-free design grammars. It contains introduction to formal grammars, description of aplications working with context-free design grammars and concept, implementation and usage of context-free grammar generator gg_cs_cfdg.
Web-Based Lecture Browser
Žižka, Josef ; Mikolov, Tomáš (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
This thesis deals with a web-based lecture browser. Its goal is to facilitate the access to information with the use of modern speech and multimedia technologies. Technologies used for this browser are discussed. Video recordings play a very important role in the browser, and therefore the big portion of this work is aimed at the digital video and methods of its delivery using streaming servers. Solutions of similar multimedia browsers are mentioned. The reader is acquainted with the browser design. This includes describing the various components of the browser and how their mutual synchronization is done. The final version of the browser is introduced and the problems that occurred during the development process and deployment into service are mentioned. In the conclusion of this work the future development of the web-based lecture browser is discussed.
Melody Harmonization
Vlasák, Jaroslav ; Černocký, Jan (referee) ; Fapšo, Michal (advisor)
This bachaleor's thesis is focused on an automatic harmonization of melody. The implemented system is using a machine learning approach and learning the harmony principles from the database of MIDI files. The input of the system could be monophony songs in MIDI or ABC format. The output of the system are polyphony songs in MIDI format harmonized in the style of protestant chorale.
Web Based Audio/Video Lecture Browser: Porting of the Browser to MySQL Database
Janovič, Jakub ; Fapšo, Michal (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
This project deals with a web-based lecture browser, whose goal is to simplify the gaining of knowledge with the use of multimedia. It presents an existing lecture browser that was created for a diploma thesis at FIT VUT Brno. Demonstrated are the technologies that are used and which will be used to migrate the browser to a MySQL database and to develop a transcription module for speeches. The reader will be acquainted with an analysis and model of the new application. Furthermore, implementation methods for development and subsequent testing are discussed. At the end of the project is a conclusion about the future development of web-based lecture browsers.
