Aerodynamic characteristics of airfoils
Foltýn, Pavel ; Cejpek, Jakub (referee) ; Koutník, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor´s thesis describes an influence of geometric characteristics of an airfoil on its aerodynamic properties. The first part of the thesis defines airfoil, describes its geometric characteristics, emergence of aerodynamic forces and convection around airfoil. The second part deals with influence of profile geometry on aerodynamic properties of airfoils. It is shown on NACA four and six digit profiles, in their buoyancy and moment lines and polars. The last part deals with wind tunnels and measurement in them. The thesis focuses on forces and moments measurement by force balances and static and total pressure measurement. Velocity measurement is focused on the laser Doppler velocimetry, on the hot-wire velocity probe and PIV method. Very briefly selected flow visualization methods are shown there. Comparison of profile characteristic obtained by measuring in wind tunnels and numerical simulation in Xfoil program is also shown there.
Aerodynamic analysis and shape optimization of ARES aircraft
Foltýn, Pavel ; Navrátil, Jan (referee) ; Popela, Robert (advisor)
This thesis deals with the aerodynamic analysis and shape modifications of the ARES aircraft. The analysis focuses on the evaluation lift, drag, and pitching moment coefficient, and further to identify the locations of stripping stream which is characterized by high drag. Before the analysis calibration of the CFD solver is done with the model, which has been measured in the wind tunnel. The aim of calibration is to verify the accuracy and veracity of the methodology used in mesh creation and calculated values. Calculated values are compared with measured data. The shape modifications of the aircraft are focused on conceptual design of the suction inlets for cooling radiators and engine aircraft. Aerodynamic analysis is performed with the modified model in order to determine the variation of lift, drag and pitching moment coefficient from its original configuration.
Dendrochronologické datování a stavebněhistorické hodnocení krovu zámku v Miloticích (okres Hodonín)
Foltýn, Pavel
The subject of this thesis is the construction and historic evaluation of the age of the wooden truss structure of the State Chateau Milotice in district Hodonín using dendrochronological analysis. There are used procedures of the dendrochronological dating that is procedure of sampling the samples, their subsequent processing and dating. The work also includes construction and historical description of the building, to which have been used available documents form the Moravian Museum in Brno. Fir trees used for construction of truss were originated from the end of year 1721 or from the start of year 1722. From pine trunk was dated just one sample, which met the requirements of period after 1893. Beams of oak trunks were originated from two periods after year 1813 and after year 1943. Probably, fir elements of truss are original and the rest came from of following repairs. Dendrochronologically data analysis helped to specify the previously estimated history of the building, which has a big meaning in the planned reconstruction of the truss structure of the chateau.
Roubená dřevostavba se zateplením
Foltýn, Pavel
The subject of this diploma thesis is the design of a timbered bungalow family house for a four-member household. The design works with current and future requirements of thermal properties of the perimeter shell. The thesis also deals with the problems of the selected construction system of the peripheral shell as well as with the basic constructional details. The processing also includes an assessment of structures in terms of the thermal properties’ requirements for the given structure. The thesis proposes several layout solutions of the object and their mutual comparison. In addition, the thesis deals with an issue and subsequent solution of the use of water from several sources. The work contains complete drawing documentation for building permits, technical reports and proof of energy performance of buildings.

Optimalization radiation protection with by using method "cost-benefit". Calculation for power plant Temelín ČEZ, a.s.
FOLTÝN, Pavel
Currently in the area of radiation protection, the principle ALARA (As Low As Reasonable Achievable) is being used. Through this principle the radiation burden of workers with ionising radiation is optimised. One of the economic tools used here is the {\clqq}cost-benefit analysis``. It is one of the first analytical methods which are recommended by the ICRP (International Commission on Radiological Protection) for optimising costs needed to secure radiation protection. The cost benefit analysis is a good and efficient economical tool. With the help of this method it is possible to do the optimisation as well as to prove it. It takes into consideration all significant economic and social factors that are prescribed and recommended. Especially, it can prove that all expositions are kept as low as they are reasonable achievable, while considering the economic angle. Basically, it is a conception which is applicable in all areas of the public as well as private sector, in all areas of human activity. In this thesis some particular examples of using the CBA at the NPP Temelín are shown and compared with the achieved level of RP. Based on that the ALARA system at our workplace is demonstrated. The CB analysis with its extended forms helps to make principal and continuous decisions, and it is an essential factor in protection from harmful effects of ionising radiation. Its main contribution lies in the areas where it is necessary to build additional technical or building barriers. It is very important in designing and building new workplaces with ionising radiation.
