Depiction of early modern period society in ego-documents of Bohemian noblewomen of 17th century
Zítková, Markéta ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Boháčová, Veronika (referee)
The research subject of this thesis are written sources of private character - socalled ego-documents - which originated predominantly in the 1st half of the 17th century and which were written by several Bohemian noblewomen of 3 to 4 generations. Through the analysies of these sources and through the application of secondary literature it is possible not only to restore life of these authors but in particular also to enter into some spheres of their everyday conscious and non-conscious reality, which essentially determined mentality, behaviour, or character of the whole society which necessarily had to be reflected in the written expression as well. By following the period written expressions it is thus possible to demonstrate a fundamental change of whole society which occurred during several decades of the 1st half of the 17th century in connection with the epoch-making period events. Although the characters of this fundamental change of society are quite clear in a long time period, they trail away and become rather blurry in a short perspective. The aim of this thesis is thus to find out and restore some of the trends which lead to the abovementioned change, attempt to grasp and name them and point out the profundity of impacts of the post-Bílá Hora measures.
The cooperation of central state and local public authorities with civil society organizations within the integration of immigrants
Boháčová, Veronika ; Jelínková, Marie (advisor) ; Navrátil, Jiří (referee)
Effective integration of migrants should be seen as a multidimensional process that requires commitment and partnership of all stakeholders. In the Czech Republic the integration is shifting to the local level increasingly. It is a slow process followed by various difficulties, but it creates a number of challenges to cooperation of civil society organizations, boroughs and other stakeholders. The thesis focuses on the cooperation of actors in the area of integration of migrants from third countries in Prague, where the situation is influenced by a number of specific factors. Based on the studies and analysis of available materials and conducted interviews, work explains how and in what areas cooperation of actors works or does not work. Work presents which positives, barriers and potential capacity of cooperation see representatives of civil society organizations, boroughs and state institutions as well.
The Engagement of US Foreign Policy at the 2000 Camp David Summit
Boháčová, Veronika ; Bečka, Jan (advisor) ; Raška, Francis (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyzes the involvement of American foreign policy at the summit at Camp David in 2000. The summit should have been a culmination of the peace process between the Israelis and Palestinians, should have led to the signing of final agreement and should be established a lasting peace. The Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak and the Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat did not sign the final agreement, however, instead of peace the second intifada was proclaimed. The final peace agreement between Israelis and Palestinians has not been signed since then. Many experts believe that during the second term of the Clinton Administration, both parties were the closest to resolving the conflict. This bachelor thesis, based on research and analysis of mainly secondary sources, focuses on describing and explaining the events before and at the summit and seeks to provide an unbiased view on the influence of the United States on preparation, progress and outcome of the summit. The widely accepted US-Israeli interpretation that Ehud Barak gave an unprecedented generous offer and Yasser Arafat uncompromisingly rejected it does not represent an objective point of view. Similarly, the less publicized Palestinian version that it was a US-Israeli conspiracy to legalize the Israeli occupation has serious...
The Sedlec monastery between the destruction and "the second foundation"
Lavický, Jan ; Boháčová, Veronika (referee) ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor)
The Monastery at Sedlec near Kutná Hora, which was founded in 1142, is the oldest cistercian monastery in the Czech Lands. Shortly after its founding, it became one of the most important Czech monasteries, and under Hedenreich (late 13th and early 14th century) it played a very important role in directing the Kingdom of Bohemia after the last legitimate Přemyslid King had been murdered. After Heidenreich's death, however, the monastery begins to falI into debts: before the Hussite Wars its debts were considerable. In 1421, the monastery was burned by the Hussites (the monastery's tradition, erroneously, ascribed this act to Jan Žižka): this was the turning point in its history. After the Hussite Wars, Sedlec's monks returned to their destroyed monastery, yet the financial situation of the convent remained gloomy due to confiscation of its property by Hussite and Catholic nobility. The JagelIonian period brought a temporal improvement, but this was folIowed by further decline, which saw the smalI convent struggling with routine tasks such as providing enough food for its members or enough funds to pay for vital repairs of the monastery's buildings. The monastery only saw a new up swing after the Thirty Years' War, especialIy under its "second foundeť', Jindřich Snopek in 1685-1709. This abbot was, to a great...

The East-Bohemian manor of Opočno in the years 1618-1638
Nosek, Petr ; Boháčová, Veronika (referee) ; Čechura, Jaroslav (advisor)
In the early Modern Age, the knightly and later baronial House of Trčka of Lípa played the predominant role in the history of Opočno Manor. The original manor, limited to the immediate vicinity of Opočno, was purchased by junior Mikuláš Trčka of Lípa around 1495. The purchase marked the beginning of a successful expansion of the House of Trčka of Lípa into North-East Bohemia. Mikuláš Trčka of Lípa systematically bought out minor knightly estates, parts of villages and even individual holdings. During his lifetime the core of Trčka estates was formed, which then remained fairly stable until the House of Trčka died out in 1634 and the estate consequently crumbled in what is known as the Trčka Process. Smiřice Manor was being created simultaneously. The 70s and 80s saw a threat to the unity of the manor during inheritance feud after Vilém Trčka of Lípa's death in 1569, as he had bequeathed Opočno Manor to his sister Veronika. The marriage of Jaroslav Trčka of Lípa with his niece Johanka of Žerotín partially settled the disputes. His sons Vilém and Kryštof Jaroslav died in wars against Turks and, as they left no heirs, the manor was assigned to their uncle Jan Rudolf. Jan Rudolf was an aristocrat who kept his distance from religious frictions preceding the Battle of Bílá Hora. He maintained contacts with both...

The introduction of CLIL in teaching mathematics at the second level of primary school
BOHÁČOVÁ, Veronika
One way of promoting language learning is the method of CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) which refers to any dual-focused educational context in which an additional language, thus not usually the mother tongue of the learners involved, is used as a medium in the teaching and learning of non-language content. The diploma thesis describes the experimental teaching of mathematics in an elementary school in Jindřichův Hradec. The aim of this work was to create worksheets in the English language suitable for the experimental teaching of the mathematical subject matter of Fractions by the method of CLIL, to describe particular lessons of mathematics, and finally to evaluate the efficiency of such teaching using the prepared worksheets. The conclusions of the work should serve to other teachers of mathematics who would be interested in the teaching of mathematics as a source of information and experience with this type of teaching.
