New approaches in higt-resolution shallow seismic prospection
Valenta, Jan ; Dohnal, Jiří (advisor) ; Rudajev, Vladimír (referee) ; Bárta, Jaroslav (referee)
This work deals with the application of seismic methods in high-resolution near-surface prospection. Two topics are covered in this text. The first one describes processing and application of 3D shallow seismic refraction, while the second one deals with possible methods of identification and filtration of S-waves. The processing of the 3D seismic refraction data is currently carried out mainly by means of the seismic tomography. Because the tomography method usually works with the gradient model of the subsurface, an approach to the layer-based model was sought. The solution was found in a modification of the time-term method. The time- term method was modified to handle also the lateral variations of velocity in highly heterogeneous media. REFRACT3D computer program for data processing using the time-term method was developed. The modified time-term method was successfully tested during the archaeological prospection of the Děvin Castle and during the pro- spection of the shallow subsurface of the Ostaš seismic station. The results from the time-term method were compared with the results obtained by the first arrival travel time tomography. In the case of the Děvin Castle the time-term results surpass the tomography one, while at the locality of Ostaš the tomography results are better. The imaging...

Life and work of a Silesian photographer and painter Józef Raszka (1875-1929)
Klepáčová, Veronika ; BÁRTA, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Buddeus, Hana (referee)
The Master thesis deals with life and work of a Silesian photographer and painter Józef Raszka (1875-1929). During the compilation of the thesis emphasis was put on searching and collecting information in archives and finally on their processing into one comprehensive unit. Generally, the thesis is divided into four main parts. The first chapter outlines historical events that took place during Raszka's life in a region he lived in. The other two chapters describe Raszka's life and the research method in detail. All of the chapters mentioned above should introduce this extraordinary and controversial personality to a reader and simultaneously get him/her acquainted with the artist's complicated character and interesting attitude toward life. In the last chapter the findings are applied in order to interpret Raszka's work. The indivisible part of the thesis consists also of a photography illustration and a catalogue that can be found at end of the thesis and which encompasses reproductions of all Raszka's photographs which are known.
Changes in human living environment in selected Czech photographic projects since 1990 to the present
Trautmannová, Tereza ; Siostrzonek, Jiří (advisor) ; BÁRTA, Jaroslav (referee)
This thesis aims to present and compare selected photographic projects mapping the changes in human living environment since the early nineties to the present. This includes approaches of authors interpreting the landscape in a different context than as the aesthetic artefact. The photographic projects selected for this thesis represent not only the artistic side of photography but also their sociological, ecological, social, psychological and anthropological overlaps enabling the alternative interpreting approaches.

Dating women photographic portraits 1841 - 1914 by the fashion
Halama-Leite, Guna ; SCHEUFLER, Pavel (advisor) ; BÁRTA, Jaroslav (referee)
Exploring possibilities of dating photographs by clothing of the portrayed person. In my thesis I am working with women portraits, because changes in the women fashion of the period are more rapid and distinctive in comparision with men or children fashion. Beginning of period, described in the thesis is 1841, as in this year the first portrait atelier in Prague was opened, and end is 1914 as the beginning of the WWI. Aim of my thesis is to show, that it is possible to date photographic portraits by their garment, accessories and haircuts within a decade. Advantages and disadvantages of dating by the fashion are described, further combination with other dating methods. Main part of the thesis is description of fashion silhouette, garment details modern accessories by the decades: 1840´s, 1850´s, 1860´s, 1870´s, 1880´s, 1890´s, 1900´s, 1910 - 1914. Also, examples of dating by the fashion on particular photographs are included.
Beskydy Mountains in the photography of the regional artists till the year 1948
Klepáčová, Veronika ; BÁRTA, Jaroslav (advisor) ; STECKER, Martin (referee)
The Bachelor thesis focuses on the selected artists who had been taking photographs of the landscape and the life in the Beskydy Mountains in the past, more accurately till the year 1948. The core of the thesis is collecting and searching information and finally its processing. Then, life values and photography works of the local photographs are compared. What is worth thinking about is for instance also the way in which the Beskydy Mountain?s landscape has been changing in the course of the time and with this also the relation of the man to the landscape. The work is accompanied by the photography illustration chosen from the work of the authors. As the landscape has been still changing, the thesis stresses the documentary value of the photography too. And thank to this, we can also nowadays have a look at how the landscape looked like many years ago.
New documents
Douša, Jan ; KOLÁŘ, Viktor (advisor) ; BÁRTA, Jaroslav (referee)
The goal of this thesis is to demonstrate on specific examples the most current documentary approaches in photography since 2000. The selection focuses on authors whose initial stimulus for their work comes from the fascination with the complexity and visuality of the outside world and from the urge to reflect on this fascination through the medium of photography. Purely conceptual and other approaches that use documentary photography merely as a platform for criticism and analysis of the medium of photography (with its relation to aesthetization or objectivity) are not included in this thesis. The selection of authors, due to the limited nature of the thesis, is not exhaustive. The thesis does not aim to serve as an overview, rather it presents a personal selection of representative authors balancing a wide scope of documentary approaches in their work. The latter include reinvented formal approaches derived from the tradition of the New Documents exhibition which I consider to be an important milestone in the post-war history of documentary photography, but also entirely fresh approaches, or new symbioses thereof. Historical context and critical discourse originating in the 1970s, which questions the documentary functions of photography in combination with aesthetization, create a background for the analysis of contemporary authors.
