Uehara cycle
Soška, Michal ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Fiedler, Jan (advisor)
This Diploma thesis describes design of the computational model of Uehara power cycle, with ammonia-water mixture used as working fluid. First part is dedicated to issue of determination working mixture thermodynamic properties, which are essential for computational model design. The second part of this thesis describes the methodology of computing power cycle by system matrix solving method. For purposes of methodology testing, model of Kalina power cycle was also created. Computational models of Uehara and Kalina cycles are designed in Excel and are an integral part of this thesis. Text part also includes a description of their user interface, calculation algorithm and detailed description of the design methodology.
Application of the artificial neural network to calculate the thermodynamic properties
Groman, Martin ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Mauder, Tomáš (advisor)
This master thesis is dealing with application of an artificial neural network for calculating specific volume of steam. There is described type and construction of the needed neural network. The main outcome of this work is an executable programme, which calculates specific volume of steam for given pressure and temperature, using neural nets.
Small scale photovoltaic power plant
Hamerský, Tomáš ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Pospíšil, Jiří (advisor)
The content of this bachelor thesis is the design of a small photovoltaic power plant for family house using a heat pump. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part provides a basic view of individual concepts connected with the photovoltaic power plant, where the individual concepts and principles of each device combined with operation are briefly described. The practical part is focused on determination of the energy balance for family house in the form of electricity and heat, as well as the incident solar radiation in the location of the object for fixed and positioning systems. In a conclusion, there is a determination of the individual variants of the photovoltaic system in order to determine the optimal variant.
Aerodynamic design of wind turbine
Chromec, Tomáš ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This master‘s thesis focuses on wind turbines. The first part describes the basic attributes of wind energy and wind turbines and is accompanied by a many images. The next section is a statistical processing of measured meteorological data from measuring stations of the Czech Hydrometeorological Institute. These data are then used for calculations of the blades of wind turbines. The calculations are carried by two different methods. The first method is called the blade element momentum theory, the second method is the theory of blade cascade. Using these methods are obtained by two different blades. The last section compares the two blades in terms of geometric and performance.
Black Coal Mining in Czech Rep
Vínovský, Jan ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Lisý, Martin (advisor)
Throughout history, coal mining has dominated the 19th and especially the 20th century. The period of decline in mining began in the 90s. Between 1990 and 2019, there was a decrease of 88.13%, specifically from 30,714 kt to 3,645 kt of mined coal per year. Currently, only four active mines are in operation and the other two are in a conservation state. The forecast for the future of the sector is very unfavorable. In addition to the economic crisis, there are also reserves of extractable coal, which are currently around 25,000 kt. It is currently planned to end mining at the ČSA and Darkov mines at the turn of 2020 and 2021, ČSM Mines should be closed by 2022 at the latest, which will completely end black coal mining in the Moravian-Silesian Region and the entire Czech Republic.
Design of heat source for heating
Nevoral, Michal ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Baláš, Marek (advisor)
The aim of this bacherol thesis is to provide the familiarisation with the most suitable sources used for heating of family houses with main emphasis on heat pumps. The first section describes all possible sources used for heating, which can also be used as a household heating. The second part of this thesis is based on calculated losses which were done for selected house using five different types of heat sources. The thesis is concluded by comparing sources of the heat with the economic point of view.
Design of tidal turbine
Mahdal, Ondřej ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
The present time demands emission-free and carbon-free sources of energy. This fact is not only subject of international agreements and European Union regulations, but also the state of environment points out to an essential change in energy generation of mankind. Tidal stream provides very stable and predictable source of “green” energy. Compared to other renewable energy sources tidal stream turbines in exceptional localities are able to supply energy continuously, making them base load source. The aim of the thesis was to create an extensive document with recent tidal stream power information, which has not been available in Czech language yet. Last part of the research is focused on co-locating tidal stream and off-shore wind turbines. Second part of the thesis is dedicated to aerodynamic design of single-stage horizontal axis tidal stream turbine with rated electric power of 1 MW. Calculation according to the blade cascade theory was used to design blade geometry and to find rotor diameter of 14 meters for rated stream velocity of 3.05 m/s.
Design of small jet engine to 1kN thrust
Gongol, Jakub ; Fiedler, Jan (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This work will be focused on issue of a jet engine. The thesis will be divided into search retrieval part and computational part. In the search retrieval part it will focus on different configurations of jet engines as well as areas of their use. The main part of the thesis will however focus on a calculations where a turbine, compressor and an exhaust nozzle will be designed in order to give a thrust of approximately 1kN. Next step will be determination of an engine charcteristic that will give us a preview on how the engine performance will look like in off-design modes.
Analysis of the use of Stirling engines in power engineering
Podolák, Petr ; Toman, Filip (referee) ; Škorpík, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is designed to acquaint reader with Stirling engines and their applications. The main aim of the first part is general overview. The purpose of the second part is to present current usage as well as ongoing research projects. It the third part the ecological and economical impacts of Stirling engines are discussed.
Heat exchanger parametric study using CFD
Sušovský, Martin ; Škorpík, Jiří (referee) ; Špiláček, Michal (advisor)
In this paper is carried out basic design and calculation of tube heat exchanger with a straight tube bundle with installed systém of disk and doughnut baffles. The calculation included pressure losses and heat transfer coefficient of tubular space and shell side. Then CFD model was made for parametric study, which was focused on influence of change of the baffles geometry on the heat output of the exchanger and the pressure loses on the shell side.
