Analysis of the performance growth of the optimization solvers

It would not be possible to solve real optimization problems, which usually contain a huge number of variables and constraints, without high-performance optimization systems. Today's software market offers a vast number of different systems available to provide solutions to linear and non-linear optimization tasks, including integer conditions. One such optimization system is called Gurobi. It is available in several versions. This thesis is focused on the performance comparison of three solver versions (i.e. 7.0.2, 6.0.5 and 5.0.2) using tasks that are in the MPS format, they are obtained from the MIPLIB 2010 electronic library, namely from the Benchmark section. The results are compared according to the time period needed to solve the task for each investigated version.
Multiple criteria analysis of selected world indexes

This thesis deals with the analyses of selected world indexes using multiple criteria methods with cardinal information and methods for modelling preferences of decision-maker. Out of multiple criteria methods Weighted Sum Average (WSA) and The Technique for Order of Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) are applied. From many possible methods to determinate weights are selected Method of Order and Scoring Method. The thesis explores three world indexes, specifically The Legatum Prosperity Index, Global Gender Gap and Freedom in the World. All of these three indexes are annually published and define majority of countries in the world. In corresponding chapters every index is introduced including description of actual results, explanation of methodology and also sensitivity of change in applied multiple-criteria evaluation of alternatives methods is tested.
Possibility of linking inventory models with logistics method JIT

This thesis deals with the interconnection of inventory models and logistic control methods. The purpose of the thesis is to apply inventory models for the production company and its subsequent connection with the selected logistic method. Based on the data, future demand is estimated. For items that are described by a probability distribution, they explain how likely the values will be at the certain interval. Demand for items whose consumption values are of a random nature is estimated using the exponential balancing method. Stochastic models are selected for inventory optimization if monthly consumption data is described by a probable distribution. For other items, deterministic models are selected at approximate annual demand. For these items, aggregation of orders is then considered. In addition, for all models, variable delivery costs are taken into an account. Finally, a possible link to the chosen logistic method JIT is described. The calculations are executed in MS Excel. At the end of the thesis there are recommendations for the company.
International Conference Organization Project

This bachelor thesis applies project management methods to an existing project. The project is based on organizing an international scientific conference which takes place at the University of Economics, Prague, from 26th till 29th June 2017. The conference will be organized by the Department of Econometrics staff. The whole process, from the initial application in the selection process to the event, generates the project that should be analyzed by the chosen project management methods and procedures. First, the thesis introduces basic theoretical background. Second, it applies it to the real data. Thus, it aspires to describe and achieve the most effective way of project form and execution. The case study consists of a very detailed time analysis and risk analysis due to the organization team's needs. Cost and resource analyzes are also provided. To perform these analyzes the Microsoft Project 2016 is used. The stimulus for the thesis was given by its supervisor and the head of the Department of Econometrics, who has been in collaboration with the author for the last two years.
Scoring rules - ranked advanced voting systems

This thesis deals with ranked advanced voting systems. The aim is to determine the overall winner and the ranking of candidates based on voters' preferences. The thesis utilises basic voting systems - plurality rules, lexicographical and Borda's method - as well as advanced voting systems with the application of DEA models, specifically DEA/AR model, DEA/AR exclusion model (including variations with penalties), and Llamazares-Peňa model. Compromise programming is used to obtain common vector of weights. The models and their use are demonstrated on Formula One Grand Prix results from season 2016. Formula One World Drivers' Championship and Formula One World Constructors' Championship are being investigated.
Multicriteria analysis of current accounts on the Czech banking market

This diploma thesis deals with the analysis of current accounts on the Czech banking market. Its goal is to find the most appropriate accounts for different types of clients. The work is divided into three parts. The theoretical part describes the problem of multicriteria decision making, basic concepts and principles, methods for calculating weight of the criteria and individual methods of multicriterial evaluation of alternatives. The second part is devoted to the description of the currently offered current accounts for individuals and a description of the selected criteria according to which the individual alternatives are evaluated. The last computational part tries to find the most appropriate accounts for those clients. Weights are calculated using the scoring method and DEMATEL method. Subsequently, the best accounts are selected by WSA, TOPSIS, ELECTRE III and MAPPAC. The calculations are made by using MS Excel add-in application Sanna.
Assignment problem and its particular application in passenger transport

This thesis is focused on the topic of assignment problems. The theoretical part presents a summary of the most important previously published findings on linear and quadratic assignment problem. The basic formulations of both problems are introduced, as well as the outline of some methods developed for their solution. Finally both problems are illustrated by practical applications that have appeared in the literature. The practical part gives insight into the issue of assignment of transport orders to drivers in a company and proposes a suitable model that speeds up the process of distributing the orders. The transfers conducted by the company start at the airport and terminate in a hotel in the city centre of Prague or vice versa. When proposing order schedules for the drivers, it is necessary to take into account not only the time of the transfers, but additionally the capacity and the category of the vehicle.
DEMATEL method and its utilization in multi-criteria decision making

This thesis is concerned with problematics of multi-criteria decision making, especially method DEMATEL, its modifications and combinations with another methods. There is description of particular steps of this methods and selected theory from various areas, which is used in these methods. In every chapter we can find theoretical explanation of these methods, description of their steps and afterwards these theoretical findings are applied on numerical example. Firstly, the crucial method is introduced. Then this thesis is concerned with its adjustments based, on different approaches, which are often used not only in decision making. In the end, all these findings are aggregated and new method is founded.
Analysis of Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic effectiveness with DEA models

This thesis deals with DEA models (Data envelopment analysis), which are models for measuring the efficiency of peer decision making units (DMUs). First part focus on basic DEA models (CCR model, BCC model) and this part is extended by new CH-CCR model, which considering that the variables (inputs or outputs) are usually strongly correlated. In second part is included description of network-based models, which are afterwards applicated on data of FRS CR (Fire Rescue Service of the Czech Republic). Using this models is solved efficiency of FRS CR through the regions.
ELECTRE methods: theory and applications

Multiple-criteria decision-making (MCDM) is a field of decision theory concerned with analyzing discrete sets of variables evaluated by multiple criteria. Facilitating decisions in such situations are several methods, among them a family known as ELECTRE. Using threshold values and the concept of outranking, they allow for improved modeling of the uncertain nature of real systems. This thesis sets out to describe all of the basic ELECTRE methods, as well as several of their modifications and further extensions and aims to do so with a sufficient level of detail and using precise mathematical language. It also presents key applications of said methods and reviews their implementation in software. Lastly, it introduces a brand new software, ELIA, developed as a part of the thesis. It allows users to solve practical problems using four of the basic ELECTRE methods.
