Causes and consequences of Irish partition

The thesis focuses primarily on the theme of Irish partition. The border itself was placed on the island a little over a hundred years ago and its meaning has also changed over time. We will follow the beginning of the partition from both the historical and political point of view. From the historical context through the roaring 20th century, we will examine the topic up to nowadays when the Irish partition gained new wave of interest in the context of the Brexit referendum. Research will be lead on multiple levels. The essential sources are laws, amending the partition, but also laws which created Northern Ireland and the Irish Free State, later the Republic of Ireland. In modern day we will work with Good Friday Agreement and Brexit Agreement which are both very crucial. Apart from laws we will also take into consideration practical obstacles of partition, that ordinary people must deal with. The last point of focus will be the political progress in both states on the island and the consequences of partition. Concept of Authoritarian Regime of Juan Linz and its Application on Antanas Smetona Rule

This bachelor thesis analyses political development in interwar Lithuania, which declared independence in 1918. The years of independence ended in 1940 by Soviet occupation. The thesis is concern on period of rule of Antanas Smetona who become the Lithuanian president after military coup d'etat in 1926. The analytical part deals with the theory of authoritarian regimes by Juan Linz, who developed this theory in his book "Totalitarian and Authoritarian Regimes". The thesis explains the main statements of his draft, analyses empirical datas which are relevant to Smetona's regime and then provides a comparison. The aim is to find out to what extent the regime of Antanas Smetona is in accordance with Linz's definition of authoritarian regime.
Populism in Ukrainian Politics

(in English) The main goal of the thesis will be to analyze the concept of populism and its application to the current Ukraine in the conditions of the election campaign 2019. Yulia Tymoshenko as a Ukrainian politician, former Prime Minister of Ukraine and candidate for the post of President of Ukraine will be the key subject of this research. The work will be divided into 4 parts. The first two theoretical parts will focus on the conceptual definition of populism, its theoretical framework, the problem of the exact definition of populism, focus on the characteristic features of populism according to Paul Taggart and the method of populism as a form of political practice and also the cause of its rise in nowadays world. The last two parts will analyze the hypothesis whether Yulia Tymoshenko and her rhetoric are fulfilling the populist characteristics mentioned in the theoretical part, which could be useful as an example for future research of other politicians and their rhetorics. Content analysis will be used to analyze Tymoshenko's political program, debates and statements in the media and social networks in the period February 2018 to April 2019.
Russian reactions to"colour revolutions"

This case study is dedicated to the Russian counter-revolutionary policies that were developed in response to the heavily supported democracy promotion by the western countries and the so- called colour revolutions in Russia's near abroad, being Rose revolution in Georgia, Orange revolution in Ukraine and Tulip revolution in Kyrgyzstan. Why did these events invoke the need to create a patriotic civil society inside Putin's regime? What tools were used to create such patriotic civil society? In this context, the thesis considers the role of political technologists Gleb Pavlovsky and Vladislav Surkov, the main engineers of counter-revolutionary policies and authors of the sovereign democracy concept. The thesis will analyse the role of the government organised youth movement Nashi that developed an anti-fascist discourse based on sovereign democracy. I connect the concept of civil society with thoughts of political philosophers such as John Locke, Thomas Paine, Robert Putnam and Alexis de Tocqueville who associated the civil society concept with certain civic virtues. Petr Kopecký and Cas Mudde provide the theoretical framework to classify the concept of ‚uncivil society'. Transnistria in the Russian Foreign Policy

This bachelor thesis deals with the separatist state Transnistria which was created in 1992 with assistance of Russian Federation in terrritory of Moldova. The research deals with analysis of extent of Transinistria autonomy in relation to its patron Russian Federation. This thesis discusses historical development of relations among Moldova, Transnistria and Soviet Union/Russia, and the function of internal and external sovereignity of Transnistria. Together with these issues the thesis deals with the topic of transnistrian identity and how it is influenced by the relations between Transnistria and Russian Federation. This thesis will be discussed as a unique case study with concept application of weak statehood on quasi-state Transnistria. The thesis evaluates to what extent Transnistria acts autonomous according to Russian Federation and according to international community and whether could be Transnistria considered independent participant of international relations.
Semi-presidential system in Ukraine

The bachelor thesis will focus on the research of Ukrainian political system. The theoretical part will try to outline the basic definition of the theory of semi-presidential system according to the most eminent scholars: Duverger, Shugart and Elgie. The practical part will explore constitutional development in Ukraine, semi-presidential system implementation, transformations of Ukrainian political system and its real functioning. The aim of the work is to find out if Ukrainian political system is semi-presidential or not. A great contribution of this work will be the analysis of the current political regime, in which, for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine, the dominance of a single political power has been settled down. This part of the work cannot be based on the results of scientific research due to the absence of such results. Therefore, this part will take the form of an analysis of the definitive facts by the author of the work. Key words: Semi-presidential system; Ukraine; post-communism.

Dissolution of the Soviet Union in Georgia and its Transformation

This diploma thesis deals with the dissolution of the Soviet Union in the Georgian soviet socialistic republic and its transformation into an independent democratic state. The thesis analyses how soviet political institutions have turned into democratic ones. In connection with that the thesis will stress the general social situation including the civil war in the 1990s and the relationship of the new state towards the Russian Federation.
