Changes in the Landscape of the North Bohemian Mines as an Example of a Cross-cutting Theme in Natural History Teaching
Johanová, Milena ; Hanel, Lubomír (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with coal mining in northern Bohemia in the Chomutov region, reclamation and the influence of these activities on the occurrence of animal and plant species in the landscape. The occurrence and exemplary species of organisms in a landscape that has already been reclaimed after mining are presented. The occurrence of some species was a very interesting finding and the work explains why even a devastated landscape provides some species with satisfactory living conditions. The work illustrates how the ongoing changes in nature have an impact on plants and animals and whether the subsequent reclamation of the landscape can contribute to the return of native species. The thesis also points out the possibility of using the topic of brown coal mining and subsequent recultivation in teaching various subjects in schools. The knowledge of the bachelor thesis can acquaint students with the mining area, the ongoing reclamation and their importance. Keywords devasted landscape, mining activity, plants, animals, protected species, reclamation
