Financial literacy in primary school
Helus, Jiří ; Hromadová, Jana (advisor) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
There were about 6.7 % of inhabitants in foreclosure in the Czech Republic in 2020. The most likely cause is population's low financial literacy whose bases we get at primary school. So we asked whether pupils really learn financial literacy at primary school. We found data for teaching plan in the framework educational programme. We realised, using a questionnaire for teachers, among other things that the number of lessons dedicated to financial literacy is really low. We verified fulfilment of framework educational programme by a test for primary school pupils which was completed by 113 pupils. It showed that they have very low knowledge of financial literacy. Then, we evaluated the situation after primary school through the same test which was filled in by 157 people who completed primary school. The results were better than in case of pupils. Finally, we suggested steps for increasing financial literacy, for instance raising the number of lessons. 1
Financial mathematics for secondary schools with internet support
Tomandl, David ; Robová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
The work deals with financial mathematics and its teaching in upper secondary school. This thesis contains introduction to finance, simple and compound in- terest, securities, bonds, loans and savings. The work is also presented in the form of web pages. The web pages are enhanced with interactive features such as applets in GeoGebra and step-by-step solutions for exercises. The web pages include a final test in which one can check his knowledge. The test contains ten randomly generated tasks which cover the curriculum of the thesis. The work is meant as an extending teaching materials for upper secondary school pupils. 1
Binary relations and their use in teaching of mathematics
Muzikářová, Zdena ; Robová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
The bachelor thesis presents a collection of exercises where binary relations are used to solve equations, inequalities and their systems. It is a teaching text designated for a mathematics seminar at the high school. The collection is pri- marily intended for high school students, but it can also serve as a source of exercises for teachers. The work focuses on graphical representation of binary re- lations and their use in solving problems. The thesis also includes an introduction of new concepts which are supplemented by relevant definitions and illustrative examples. 1
Heuristic strategies of mathematical problem solving on lower secondary school
Přibyl, Jiří ; Roubíček, Filip (advisor) ; Jančařík, Antonín (referee) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
The dissertation thesis deals with mathematical problem-solving at lower secon- dary level, as viewed from the perspective of heuristic strategies. The aim of the thesis is to comprehensibly summarize the results of research which began in 2012 and runs until now. The results concern both with theoretical and empirical parts of our research. This research study was conducted in fifteen lower secondary and upper secondary classes. Three dimensional classification of use of heuristic strategies and the structure of heuristic strategies' characteristics were developed by the author, and these constructs are presented in this work. The theory of mathematical problem and mathematical problem solving method is an integral part of this thesis too. Furthermore, the author presents a summary of all strategies used in the experiments; each strategy is fully described and illustrated by an appropriate example. The results of several short-term research studies (three months) and a longitudinal research study (sixteen months) are analysed in the empirical part of the thesis. This part also strives to find answers to several research questions, e.g.: " Could certain strategies be taught in a short-term period (three months)?", " Which strategies are suitable for an average pupil?" or " Are the pupils able to...
Financial literacy in teaching mathematics at secondary school
Antoniewiczová, Petronella ; Robová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
This thesis aims to serve as a tool for teaching financial mathematics in Mathematics lessons at higher grades of primary schools and mainly in secondary schools. The first part contains an analysis of school documents, results of survey aimed at financial literacy and available textbooks. The second part presents the supporting teaching tools in the form of applets created using the GeoGebra programme. Applets are aimed at money exchanging, interests types, loans, savings and a household budget creating. Each applet is presented by being used in a specific exercise. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
Comparative analysis of modern means of visualization in teaching functions at high school and their history
Lomnický, Matouš ; Karger, Adolf (advisor) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
This thesis deals with visual teaching aids that are used in the educational proces. It describes aids that are used in teaching mathematical functions at secondary schools. The aim is to describe briefly their historical development and by a questionnaire find changes in their use in teaching of mathematical functions in the past 10 years.
Financial Mathematics in Czech Textbooks from the Marchets's Reform
Melcer, Martin ; Bečvářová, Martina (advisor) ; Hora, Jaroslav (referee) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
Title: Financial Mathematics in Czech textbooks from the Marchet's Reform Author: Martin Melcer Department: Department of Mathematics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Martina Bečvářová, Ph.D. Abstract: The PhD thesis presents a comprehensive view of the development and the position of financial mathematics in Czech textbooks and collections particularly those used in high schools with consideration of the political situation in our country. The analysed period from 1908, i.e. from the Marchet's Reform, to the present is divided into five principal stages. In each stage textbooks covering financial mathematics instruction in all types of secondary schools are chosen. This shows the level and extent of the presentation, the complexity of the given tasks and problems and the way in which they are integrated into the textbooks or the syllabus, more precisely. At first the basic general characteristics of the textbooks are presented followed by a detailed description of partial topics of study which are then analysed thoroughly and mutually compared. The conclusions of the PhD thesis reflect the current situation of financial mathematics instruction and offer ways leading to the improvement in the level of financial literacy of our citizens. Keywords: financial mathematics, principal, interest, debt, annuity,...
Collection of exercises about quadrangles
Nohál, Pavel ; Robová, Jarmila (advisor) ; Odvárko, Oldřich (referee)
Title: The Collection of Exercises About Qaudrangles Author: Bc. Pavel Nohál Department: Department of Mathematics Education Supervisor: doc. RNDr. Jarmila Robová, CSc., Department of Mathematics Education Abstract: The master thesis is focused on exercises regarding qaudrangles. This gives a chance to pupils of primary schools and lower secondary schools to repeat and practice math curriculum with a view of further study, but also develop pupils' common sense and logical thinking. The quadrangles are being encountered by us every day and therefore the exercises in this area are largely connected with the practical life. As not many current Collections on the market are dealing exclusively with quadrangles, author would like to fill this vacancy by this thesis. Keywords: Quadrilaterals and their division Parallelograms and trapezoids Circumference and area Tops, sides and interior angles
