Fractal dimension for heart rate variability analysis
Číhal, Martin ; Vítek, Martin (referee) ; Janoušek, Oto (advisor)
This work is focused on fractal dimension utilization for heart rate variability analysis. Both the theory of heart rate variability and the methods of HRV analysis in time domain and using the fractal dimesion are summarized. Short comparsion of time domain and fractal dimension method is presented.
The impact of stress on heart rate variability in pharmacy students I.
Anderlová, Kamila ; Pokladníková, Jitka (advisor) ; Marešová, Helena (referee)
The impact of stress on heart rate variability in pharmacy students I Department of Social and Clinical Pharmacy, Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové, Charles University Student: Kamila Anderlová, Tutor: PharmDr. Jitka Pokladníková, PhD. Introduction: Academic stress is the predominant stress in pharmacy students. Psychological and emotional stress is a risk factor for a variety of chronic diseases. Objectives: The aim of the study was to assess the co-relation between perceived stress and heart-rate variability (HRV) parameters. A secondary aim was to assess the association between the stress level and HRV in both genders and healthy vs.chronically ill students, compare the stress levels of perceived stress and HRV parameters during two years of study. Methods: This was a longitudinal cross-sectional study using a validated survey, conducted at the Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Kralove at Charles Universit. In May 2016 205 second year pharmacy students enrolled in the Health Care Psychology class participated volunteerly in the study. In November 2017 175 fourth year pharmacy students enrolled in Communication For Pharmacists and again in April 2018. Subjective stress was measured using the Perceived Stress Scale (PSS-10) questionnaire. Heart rate variability was recorded by heart rate...
The impact of acupuncture on heart rate variability in patients with migraine
Jehličková, Kateřina ; Pokladníková, Jitka (advisor) ; Marešová, Helena (referee)
DIPLOMA THESIS: The impact of acupuncture on heart rate variability in patients with migraine SOCIAL AND CLINICAL PHARMACY DEPARTMENT, FACULTY OF PHARMACY IN HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ, CHARLES UNIVERSITY IN PRAGUE AUTHOR: Kateřina Jehličková SUPERVISOR: PharmDr. Jitka Pokladníková, Ph.D. INTRODUCTION: Migraine is one of the most common diseases that affects up to 25% of human adult worldwide. The popularity of alternative therapeutic method is increasing, in this case namely acupuncture, currently between 11-46% globally, 4-9,9% respectively. OBJECTIVE: The primary goal of this work is to evaluate if acupuncture has any effect on HRV in patients with migraine. Secondary goal is to find out which psychosocial factors may influance HRV parameter changes. METHODOLOGY: HRV measurment was performed before acupuncture and after 12 weeks of acupuncture therapy. At first, results were processed in KUBIOS software which is specially designed for the study of heart rate variability and the needed parameters. Then the statistical analysis of a paired t-test (p=0,05) and linear regression (p=0,1) were done in SPSS software. MIDAS questionnaire (quality of life in patients with migraine), life satisfaction questionnaire (Satisfaction with Life Scale, SWLS) and The Symptom Checklist (SCL-90) were used to determine factors...
