Medical Aids and Equipment for Children with Cerebral Palsy

Title of the thesis: Medical Aids and Equipment for Children with Cerebral Palsy. The thesis' aims: The main goal of the thesis is to convey a well-structured description of the use, benefits and types of currently available medical aids employed in the treatment of children with cerebral palsy. Another cardinal aim is to complexly abridge the issue of how the condition originates, manifests itself, develops, and explore the alternatives for its treatment. Method used: Besides technical bibliography, in-depth surveys that included first- person interviews and personal encounters with a number of professionals as well as patients have been used. Results and conclusions: Various medical aids play a crucial role in the affected child's life, lessen his dependence, improve his motor skills, raise his life standard and help him in his quotidian activities and communication. Individually manufactured orthopedic insoles as an option for correction of acquired leg defects

Title: Individually manufactured orthopedic insoles as an option for correction of acquired leg defects Objectives: The main objective of this work is to create comprehensive overview of the theory of acquired leg deformities during life and possibilities of correction and treatment of these deformities in the form of orthopaedic insoles manufactured individually for a particular client and by different methods. Methods: In context of my work I used the systematic research method. This is based on available Czech and foreign literature, electronic sources, from materials obtained at congresses and from personal consultations. Results: The result of this thesis is an inventory of information, which deals with each acquired foot defects, causes and connections between them; and treatment offers or correction options using individually manufactured orthopaedic insoles, but also other methods of treatment. Further, this thesis shows production offer of orthopaedic insoles, beginning from older development, but still used, up to methods to news in the field. Thesis with its content, can present a benefit for orthotics students and other medical workers working in the field of calceotics and podology. Title: The influence of some types of casual shoes and orthopedic shoes on position of lower limbs in children Objectives: This thesis aims at obtaining theoretical information related to the influence of construction elements of some types of casual shoes and orthopedic shoes on position of lower limbs in children. Methods: In the thesis, the method of systematic library research was chosen. The information was gathered from available resources of Czech as well as foreign literature, specialist textbooks, magazines, online magazines and other online sources, specialist brochures and materials available in professional workplaces. The knowledge stems from the fields of functional and children's anatomy, kinesiology, orthopedics, orthotics - prosthetics, and physiotherapy. Results: The result of the thesis is a summary of information concerning mainly the external influences off some types casual shoes and ortopedic shoes affecting the construction of lower limbs in children. The work and its content may be beneficial for students of orthotics and prosthetics, podology, calceotics, and children's podiatry. Interdisciplinary metrology in the field prosthetist-orthotist

Title: Interdisciplinary metrology in the field prosthetist - orthotist Objectives: The main objective of this work is to give a comprehensive overview of the available and used methods of measurement tools used within the field orthotist - prosthetist with regard to interdisciplinary cooperation mostly with doctors and physiotherapists. Method: The work was developed using the method of qualitative data collection of research articles, literature and oral information obtained from experts in the field, which was subsequently traced in written form, so everything was underpinned by relevant literature. Result: In the field orthotist - prosthetist there is a large and diverse range of measurements with various devices on which it is produced by an orthotic, prosthetic or calceotic device. Measurements must be performed as accurately as possible, always with respect to the used product and to a patient who will use the product. What is important is cooperation with doctors when taking radiographs especially when making the torso braces or corrective braces for limbs.
