Evaluation of trade and captive breeding of selected species from CITES Appendix B

Over-extensive international trade with endangered species of animals and plants is one of the most important reason of extinction of some of these species in wild environment. This thesis deals with international trade with insular species of Amazona from CITES B appendix. Trade of years 1993 - 2012 is concerned, using data from internet database CITES Trade database of ČIŽP (=CEI, the Czech Environmental Inspectorate). The main exported and imported species in observed period were: Amazona ventrali, Amazona collaria, and Amazona agilis. 380 pcs of Amazona ventralis, 128 pcs of Amazona collaria, and 18 pcs of Amazona agilis were imported, while 426 pcs of Amazona ventralis, 74 pcs of Amazona collaria, and only 8 pcs of Amazona agilis were exported.
Epidemiology of viral hepatitis E
KOPAL, Jiří
To write this thesis, I chose a topic related to viral hepatitis E. In my opinion, this topic is clearly highly topical and the issue of VHE will be increasingly discussed in the future. Viral hepatitis are in general frequent diseases in developed countries, as well as in the Czech Republic. Nowadays there are known 5 types of hepatitis that to a greater or lesser extent occur in the population. In the Current Status section I will acquaint the reader with the basic anatomical and physiological patterns of functions and structures of the liver tissue, because viral hepatitis - as the name suggests - affects hepatocytes, thus the liver cells. Furthermore, I described from the literature all types of viral hepatitis and introduced differences which occur between them. In particular, I focused intensely on hepatitis E. Before writing this thesis I have identified several hypotheses and objectives. H1: The overall morbidity of VHE for the period 2000-2010 in the Czech Republic is comparable with morbidity in other European countries during the same period. H2: In the Czech Republic, the case of an infection of VHE is more of an occupational disease. From the available literature it was determined that the incidence of VHE in Europe is increasing. The literature also introduced several known cases of occupational disease of VHE for professionals working with pork or pigs and veterinarians, but these cases are rather sporadic. Thus, hypothesis 2 was not confirmed. In my thesis I have also determined a few objectives. Objective 1: To provide an overview of the prevalence of VHE for the period of 2000-2010 in Europe and in the Czech Republic and to determine whether the patterns of the spread of VHE differ in the Czech Republic and in Europe. Objective 2: To determine whether the case of viral hepatitis E in the Czech Republic is a greater occurrence as an occupational illness or a disease with a traveling history. Objective 3: To evaluate the efficacy of preventive and anti-epidemic measures which are applied as a protection against the infection with hepatitis E. The overview of the incidence of infection is presented in tables and graphs in the chapter Results, part of it is listed in the chapter Attachments. Scientific researches of VHE are still basically in the world and in Europe at their beginning. From the literature, I found that not only in Czech Republic but also in other European countries, the VHE is more abundant. Currently it is not known much unambiguous information that would lead to improved effectiveness transmission prevention of VHE in developed countries. Increase in incidence of VHE is here attributed to more frequent examinations of chronic liver disease, thorough diagnosis of drug-induced liver failure and other diseases whose cause has not been definitely clarified. Until recently, the idea of VHE infection amongst patients with no history of traveling was almost taboo. Only further research in this area may help us to better understand the disease and to ensure the prevention, diagnosis and specific treatment. In the meantime, we should follow the precautionary principle.

International trade with writing instruments
KADLECOVÁ, Michaela
The purpose of this thesis was to analyse current situation in the stationery market within European Union. The results show that there is a strong competition in this business branch. EWIMA plays an important role in the process of harmonisation of relevant legal provisions of individual member states with common legal framework of EU. The legal provisions of EU are focused mainly on the consumer protection, harmlessness of products, safety, environmental protection and also at waste management and treatment of chemicals.
International trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil
ČIHÁKOVÁ, Bohumila
The aim of the thesis "International trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil" was archieved by analysis of current situation of trade with strategically important commodities focused on crude oil. Based on this analysis was integrated the Czech Republic in the internation trade with crude oil, how the state is affected by this trade and the prospect of further development of international trade with crude oil. At first was studied the theoretical solutions, which help to compose literary research. Terms as international trade, commodities, strategic commodities and crude oil were defined in this part of thesis. The attantion in another part of thesis was focused on the analysis the crude oil market. There were detected the most important world crude oil producers, states with the largest crude oil reserves, the largest consumers of oil, the major exportersv and importers of this strategic commodity and compared the world oil pruduction with crude oil consumption. The possible development of consumption and production in 2035 was also in this part outlined. Current situation on the crude oil market in the Czech Republic in 2012 showed that there are not significant crude oil reserves which would cover the consumption of the population in the country. It follows that the Czech Republic is dependent on crude oil import from Russian Federation, which may arise a varior international risks such as disruption of crude oil supplies, the use of crude oil as a political weapon or conflicts between states.
International trade in Malagasy succulents, protected by CITES
KOŠKOVÁ, Irena
Harvesting of endangered plant species from wild nature for trade purposes as well as reduction of natural habitats are the main reasons for lost populations in wild nature. CITES listed the endangered species, for which trade control is required, to its list. Included in the list is majority of Madagascar-based succulents plants. This thesis reviews trade with the Madagascar-based succulent plants protected by CITES between the Czech Republic and other countries. The trade was reviewed based on data from CITES Trade Database administered by UNEP WCMC for periods between 1992 and 2012. The most frequent reason of the trade with the selected group of plants was commercial interests. The main country of import and re-export was Madagascar with dominant share of specimens originating from wild nature. Almost all specimens were live plants from Appendix II. The share of represented genus in import, re-export and export was very similar. The development trends were not demonstrable from the statistical point of view.
