Cellular signaling pathways engaged in the entrainment of mammalian biological clock
Červená, Kateřina ; Bendová, Zdeňka (advisor) ; Svobodová, Irena (referee)
The mammalian biological clock is based on endogenous rhythmic oscillations of the so-called clock genes which affects the timing of the external manifestations, such as rhythmic alternations of sleep and activity. This endogenous mechanism, of which the innate period slightly deviates from the solar time, can be adjusted by various external synchronizers to the exact 24 hour period. This thesis is focused on the influence of the most prominent synchronizer, the sunlight, on the molecular basis of changes in the dynamics of internal mechanism of the oscillations in the main mammalian circadian pacemaker, the suprachiasmatic nuclei of the hypothalamus. There are numerous studies which have demonstrated the effect of various cellular signaling pathways on changes of circadian rhythms. The most common methods of assessing the oscillation phase changes, however, measure changes in output rhythms that may not always reflect the changes in the molecular mechanism itself. The aim is to evaluate which components of signaling pathways have provably shown to affect the dynamics of the rhythmic expression of clock genes.
Chronotype personality and its effect on the body weight in adolescents during the calendar age.
HANŠPACH, Luboš
The work is focused on body weight monitoring in adolescents, aged 16 - 20 years old, within one calendar year. It is aimed at the chronotype of the personality linked to the biological rhythms. According to the topology, the testees can be divided into "larks" that are active during morning hours and by day and "owls" that are more active at dusk and by night. The thesis is dievided in two parts, theoretical and practical. In the theoretical part, it deals with body weight, adolescent phase with the special attention paid to biorhythms and sleep. The practical part is focused on measuring the adolescents, questionnaire analyses, individual procedures of the research and clarifyng of stated hypotheses.
Chronotype personality and its effect on the body weight in adolescents during the calendar year
SLÁDKOVÁ, Lenka
The work is focused on monitoring changes in body weight of female adolescents (age 15-20 years) during one school year to the typology of personality in the field of biological rhythms. The teenagers are separated to "larks", which is the highest activity detected in the morning and "owls", which are people who are more active in the afternoon and evening. In the theoretical part of this work tries to clarify the keyword research. In the practical part there are specific procedures, methods, results, objectives and practical recommendations of the project
