Language manaement of Huastecan Nahuatl in Mexico

Language management of Nahuatl in Mexico This thesis describes the current status of Nahuatl language, and disccus its functioning and position within the institutional structures of Mexican society, as well as language community in the municipality of Chicontepec in northeastern Mexico. Nahuatl is one of the best-known indigenous languages with wider distribution across the Mexico and according to the latest census, there are one and half million speakers of the language. The aim of this paper is to present the key moments of the relationship between Spanish and Nahuatl. The paper analyzes how to manage the problems associated with the language problems associated with Nahuatl and other indigenous languages from the second half of the twenty century to the present. On the basis of empirical data describes in detail the use of Nahuatl and the transmission within the selected families and communities in the bilingual Chicontepec. In four communities discussed the linguistic behavior of the population with emphasis on intergenerational language transmission. The Nahua community have experienced over the past 30 years, the linguistic dynamic changes that result in different language skills in different generations, genders and social groups. Czechoslovak community in Argentina: beginning and present state

The diploma thesis deals with descendant issue of Czechoslovakian immigrants, whose ancestors massively began to migrate to Argentina during the interwar period. It is estimated that more than 30 000 people with Czechoslovak roots came into this Latin American country by the mid-40s of last century, what makes, after the United States and Canada, the largest destination of Czechoslovak emigration overseas so far. The main attention in this diploma thesis is dedicated to compatriot and compatriotic associations in Buenos Aires and Presidencia Roque Sáenz Peña, which represent two most important centres of compatriotic presence in Argentina. The thesis maps the transformation of particular compatriotic associations in explored localities, their current situation and perception of Czech origin by present compatriots according to particular generations.

Language shift in the minority languages in Peru: case of community Bora-Huitoto

The thesis deals with the current situation of minority languages in Peru, focusing on language shift as a sociolinguistic phenomenon, which is seen as a transition from the use of one language to another language. The first part conceives the topic from a broader perspective and points out certain weaknesses in the subject. Some Peruvian minority languages, ie the native languages of the Amazon region, have not been adequately documented, individual languages have not been given sufficient attention by linguists, and therefore we encounter inconsistent terminology, classifications and varying estimates of the number of the languages. Many of the languages are in danger of extinction because they are replaced in everyday use by Spanish. The thesis analyzes the individual extralinguistic and other factors that have contributed to accelerating the language shift, and on the basis of empiric data obtained during field research in 2013, describes the progress of the shift in selected communities in the languages Bora and Huitoto murui. The third part introduces the sociolinguistic profile of the settlements Pucaurquillo and Ancon Colonia, which were the center of the research.
