It takes two to tango; signal perception during male-female interaction in flowering plants
Vlasák, Jonáš ; Honys, David (advisor) ; Vaňková, Radomíra (referee)
This thesis summarizes the current understanding of the communication between partners during the progamic phase of pollen with focus on the cruciferous family After attachment of conspecific pollen to stigma, pollen coat peptides (PCP) competitively inhibit the signaling perceived by the FERONIA receptor in the papillary cell and thus allow pollen acceptance. Contrary, the interaction of pollen protein SCR (S-LOCUS CYSTEIN RICH PROTEIN) with SRK receptor (S-LOCUS RECEPTOR KINASE) determines pollen incompatibility. The regulation of oriented secretion is essential for pollen tube (PT) growth. During the growth of the PT, the components of the extracellular matrix as well as stiffness and preassure are perceived. On its way to the egg, the PT matures and acquires the competence to perceive signals. The PT exits the transmitting tract thanks to the ovular signalisation. The PT is accepted by synergids, communication takes place involving RALF peptides (RAPID ALKALIZATION FACTOR) and the FERONIA receptor. The signaling results in the rupture of the PT and the transport of sperm cells to the female gametes. Sperm cells bind to the egg cell and the central cell and after confirmation, fuse with the female gametes. After fertilization, the egg cell degrades signaling molecules and the persistent synergid also...
Physical Fable
Machová, Helena ; VLASÁK, Jonáš (advisor) ; SOPROVÁ, Jana (referee)
Bachelor thesis entitled Physical Fable or Animal Character in Ritual and Theatre explores the use of animal characters in rituals of different cultures and in European theatre. It emphasizes the use of a mask for this purpose. The work draws from both the theoretical ethnological, cultural and similar sources, as well as from the texts of theatre makers, who have many years of practical experience. After introducing the concepts and linking the work to previous research, it focuses on understanding the differences and similarities between the ritual and the theater and the role of the mask in each one. It suggests the hypothesis that the ritual elements still exist in the theater among actors and theater makers, and they are therefore trying to return the ritual to the theater. There follows the exploration of various (mostly still alive) traditions including an animal character, from which a similar return could get inspired.
Analysis of the structure and formal means of the Yakut epic olonkho, on the example of the oloncho "Er soghotox"
Vlasák, Jonáš ; Zikmundová, Veronika (advisor) ; Kapišovská, Veronika (referee)
The topic of the thesis is interpretation of a yakutian epic (olonkho) Modun Er Soghotox through the concept of J. Lotman's classifying boundaries. In the begining, the thesis is trying to put the olonkho into broader genre context of yakutian folklore. Formal aspect of the text is important for the definition of the genre, therefore the work attempts to describe some of the most common distinctive features, especially alliteration and paralelism. The second part tries to analyze the worlds of olonkho as the Lotman's semantic spaces. Each world keeps significantly different semantic environment. Crossing the boundaries between these spaces initiates the plot of olonkho. The last part is trying to understand the role of the hero in olonkho, mainly as the mediator between the semantic spaces.
