Possibilities of Support to Families Taking Care of Family Member Suffering from Dementia

The bachelor thesis named "Possibilities of support to families taking care of family member suffering from dementia" deals with the issue of people who decided to provide family members suffering from dementia with a care in a home environment. Characterisation of dementia syndrome and its symptoms, description of particular stages of disease and their consequences in specific needs of patients are mentioned in theoretical part. Next chapter is dedicated to the role of family caregivers. Available possibilites of support and help to people suffering from dementia and their caregivers and some legal issues connected with this question are mapped next. Practical part of the thesis comprises qualitative research analyzing interviews with 10 family caregivers who decided to provide home care to a family member suffering from dementia in different stages of disease. Determining the problems family caregivers are facing and identification of purposes of the most severe difficulties and sources of help were the main aim of this research. Family caregivers were asked how they use available services, how satisfied they are with them, what is the accessibility of supporting services and which potentially helpful services are not available for them.
