Ultrastrucutre of beech chloroplasts under the elevated CO2 concentration and different irradiation
Vrbová, Anna ; Albrechtová, Jana (advisor) ; Kutík, Jaromír (referee)
Forest stands may act as important carbon storage places - sinks, due to carbon allocation into both the plant biomass in the process of photosynthesis and the soil. Enhancement of CO2 concentration affects a whole range of plant physiological processes and, thus, it is necessary to study its effect on photosynthetic apparatus - leaf anatomical structure and chloroplast ultrastructure. The first aim of the Thesis was to evaluate changes in chloroplast ultrastructure of common beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) under the effects of both elevated CO2 concentration and different irradiance. The second aim was to evaluate if the anatomical parameters obtained from the middle part of the leaf are representative for the whole leaf blade. The trees were grown in glass domes at the Bílý Kříž experimental site in the Beskids Mountains (Czech Republic), owned by the CzechGlobe Institute. Leaves were sampled in 2010 from juvenile trees, which were planted in 2005 being 5-year old and cultivated since then in ambient (AC; 390 micromol/mol) and elevated (EC; 700 micromol/mol) CO2 concentrations. The EC effect was recorded to be an increased proportion of starch grains in the chloroplast median section and decreased proportion of of intergranal thylakoids (IGT) while the ratio of granal to intergranal thylakoids...
Nursing care of children with selected diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract
VRBOVÁ, Anna
Infection of urinary tract (especially cystitis and uretritis) is very common in young age. The basic symptoms of this diseases are dysuria, significant bakteriuria, hematuria, subfebrilia, retention of urine, vomitig or absence of appetite. The aim of this work to evaluate the knowledge of nurses in the nursing care of children with selected diseases of the kidney and the urinary tract and describe parents´experiences with nursing care of theyr children, who had infection of urinary tract (pyelonephritis, cystitis or uretritis).

Karel Čapek's Prosaic Works for Children and for Adults. A Comparison of Style
Vrbová, Anna ; Mareš, Petr (advisor) ; Andrlová Fidlerová, Alena (referee)
The subject of this thesis is an analysis of various stylistic aspects of Karel Čapek's Povídky z jedné a z druhé kapsy and Devatero pohádek. In the first part, the author deals with a distinctive feature of Čapek's works, which is an attempt to cause an impression of an oral narrative. At first, she studies an influence of this feature on general composition of the chosen writings. Then she analyses particular language means. The second part explores other stylistic and linguistic means, which are typical for chosen material. These are for example accumulations of synonymic expressions, playing with acoustic form of language or utilization of elements from foreign languages. Witnih each topic, the author compares the three texts. Key words Karel Čapek, short prose, literature for children, analysis of language
Development of concept of ecological footprint
Vrbová, Anna ; Albrechtová, Jana (advisor) ; Lhotáková, Zuzana (referee)
The ecological footprint is an indicator that measures the size of the bioproductive land needed to provide resources and disposal of waste from existing technologies. It's an important sign of the sustainability of the population on Earth. As we are currently facing an impending lack of many natural resources, this is an important issue. The biomass we use is created by plants, which play a critical role not only in functioning of the ecosystems, but in the concept of the ecological footprint.Individual types of vegetation differ in their relative contribution the overall ecosystems production and consequently to the calculation of the ecological footprint of various lands. For this reason this work is concerned not only with the concept of the ecological footprint, but also with the services that plants provide. The objective of this work is to compile the current information on the evolution of the concept of the ecological footprint, what preceded its creation, and to focus on the important role of plants in the functioning of ecosystems, allowing for the calculation of the ecological footprint. The evolution of the concept of the ecological footprint is covered in Chapter 1.Chapter 2 deals with ecosystem services, their rating, and the critical role that plants play in them. The calculation of the ecological...
