Change in evaluation and satisfaction of partners with the length of romantic relationship

Positive evaluation of romantic partner and romantic relationship is essential for a healthy relationship, which has a significant impact on satisfaction, health, and overall well-being of individual. The aim of this thesis was to investigate the evaluation and satisfaction of romantic partners in different lengths of relationships. A qualitative research design was chosen for the purpose of the thesis. Using the thematic analysis, 16 semi-structured interviews were analysed, 8 with participants in longer relationships (with an average duration of 10,5 years) and 8 with participants in shorter relationships (with an average duration of 12 months). The result of the thematic analysis indicates that respondents from both groups highlighted spending quality time with their partner when evaluating their romantic relationship and described their partner's character traits such as introversion/extraversion, reliability, and sensitivity. Finally, on the topic of conflict, respondents agreed that finances and housework were frequent topics of conflict in their relationship. A significant contribution of the research makes the themes on which respondents from both groups differed, a discrepancy not mentioned in the literature.
