Drip irrigation of a vineyard and orchard near Polešovice village
Pochylá, Nikola ; Szturc, Jan (referee) ; Hyánková, Eva (advisor)
This master thesis deals with irrigation systems with a focus on drip irrigation. The first part of the thesis is devoted to the reasons for the need for irrigation due to climate change, drought and its effects on crop yields and the impact of drip irrigation on improving crop quality. It then briefly discusses the types of irrigation and their water quality requirements. The theoretical part concludes with a discussion of drip irrigation, its advantages, disadvantages, practical applications and the different components of a drip irrigation system. In the second part, a drip irrigation system is proposed for a vineyard and an apricot orchard. The course of laboratory determination of soil type in the selected area, description of the information found about the former irrigation system and analysis of the selection of a suitable source of irrigation water are described. Furthermore, the calculation of the irrigation amount for each crop and the design of the storage tank are presented. The last section is devoted to the actual design of the drip irrigation system, its components and the irrigation schedule.

This dissertation is dedicated to the issues of agricultural soil sealing and assessing erosion processes in the South Moravian region. The research uses statistical, raster and vector data. All data was processed and assessed using the methods of mathematical statistics. ArcGIS methods and approaches were used to process data, create mapping outputs and compare information on agricultural soil sealing and the threat of erosion. The results suggest that considerably large expanses, given the sizes of the locations under scrutiny, were sealed in all locations between the year 1824 and the present day (2016) (for instance Modřice – 396 ha). Assessing the erosion threat, it was ascertained that the worst situation arises when calculating the present erosion (Starovice – 14.19 t/ha/year). Should these soil degradation tendencies persist, we can anticipate a huge decline in agricultural soil in future associated with potential sustainable agriculture issues and theoretically also problems associated with a lack of food resources.

The aim of my works is to considerate original and recent state of BPEJ in a cadastral area Smilovice at Třinec and in a cadastral area Třanovice. The quality of farmland in the Czech republic is evaluated by means of land valuation. The basic valuation unit of land valuation process is so called BPEJ (valuated soil ecological unit) unit is marked by five--digit code. In the beginning of my work I deal with the structure the BPEJ code. Next part is devoted to the methodology of defining and mapping of BPEJ in which I try to describe the process of implementation. This is followed by the practical part where I mention climatic, hydrological, geological and soil conditions of areas of interest. In conclusion, I compare the results of original and newly updated conditions in both cadastral territories.
