Italian "novella" from the Middle Ages to the Seventeenth Century

The main topic of this diploma thesis is to describe the genre "novella", specifically its evolution from the Middle Ages to 17th century in the Italian territory. The objective of this thesis is: 1. Create a panoramic view of the most important "novella" authors and their writings, show their language and stylistic device which they use and show how those change throughout the centuries. 2. Straparola, Basile and Czech Fairy Tales

The main topic of this bachelor's thesis are books of two italian authors: Giovan Francesco Straparola and Giambattista Basile, which contain as one of the first books in Italy the fairy tale theme. The objective of this essay is to show what are the basis, which the above mentioned books were bulit on, to get familiar with their contents, language and stylistic device and compare these conclusions with czech fairy tales, particulary with fairy tales of Karel Jaromír Erben and Božena Němcová.
