Properties of reclaimed post mining catchments and its effect of run of chemistry
Hurychová, Renata ; Přikryl, Ivo (advisor) ; Rojík, Petr (referee)
After the end of hydric recultivation from the monitored source of watering, artificially bulit-up lakes are fed with the water from their own basin. This water is not so systematically monitored as compared to the water from the new lake and the sources of its filling. This thesis summarizes findings about the developement of artificially made basin in the mining area and explains differences between various basins. Further, this work deals with the characteristics of water feeding lake "Chabarovicke jezero (Milada)", which was bulit-up during hydric recultivation of the mineshaft in the soft-coal quarry Chabarovice. Monitored basins have different area, slope, vegetation coverage and distribution of dissolved compounds. These factors have significant impact on the character of the water in affluents. We found out, that affluents from the own basin have high concentration of dissolved compounds resulting in the unwanted enrichment of the lake. Big problem was the high concentration of sulphates and nitrates, which in all affluents, except for one, exceed tolerated limits for surface waters. In the course of time, concentrations of dissolved compounds go down. Particular affluents differ between each other and the main impact on the water characteristic is the slope, exposition and area. In the...
Comparison of oxyhumolite of the Sokolov basin with materials which are using in spa and alternative medicin and its possible usage in these spheres
Dúcka, Barbora ; Rojík, Petr (advisor) ; Goliáš, Viktor (referee)
This work deal with a brief characterization of three materials, namely oxyhumolite and sapropelite from Sokolov basin that are compared with peat from Františkovy Lázně. The sampling localities are briefly geographically and geologically described including the genesis of the deposits. All materials are specifically characterized by analysis. The materials are compared based on the results of the analysis. Greater attentinon is paid to the comparison of sulfur content, humic acides and warmth retention. A part of the work is devoted to description of peloids and their influence on the human organism. The history of using peloids is briefly discussed. The possibility of using oxyhumolite and sapropelite for production of natural cosmetics or for balneological use is examined as a replacement for native and especially for regenerated peat.
Using satellite data of the Landsat program for environmental research with a case study focused on assessment of vegetation indexes in the area of Sokolovsko
Mosoriaková, Gabriela ; Matějíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Rojík, Petr (referee)
This thesis focuses on the use of remote sensing imagery and satellite image Landsat in the research of land during the revitalization, re-cultivation, and re-naturalization process. The area of the case study is the Sokolov dump. The dump is a typical long-term surface mining area and is a perfect model for the revitalization process. The thesis compares satellite imagery from the LandSat company during a period of time. The pictures are selected so that the land is not obscured by weather patterns and cloud cover. These pictures allow the evaluation of the Vegetation Index (NDVI, EVI, SAVI and MSAVI). Two areas are compared with different types of revitalization. The first is the natural process and the second is a controlled environment. The expected results should show that that the terrain data from the remote sensing images correspond to the actual land survey. The images are processed using ArcGIS and then evaluated in MatLab.
Coalification, coal facies and depositional environment of the 9th to 12th coal seams of the Jan Šverma Mine Group, Lampertice Member (Intra-Sudetic Basin, Czech Republic) from the view point of coal petrology
Edress, Nader ; Opluštil, Stanislav (advisor) ; Rojík, Petr (referee) ; Franců, Juraj (referee)
Four subsequent coal seams of the Žacléř group, the Intra-Sudetic Basin, have been studied petrographically, and geochemically to determine paleoenvironment conditions of their formation. The Intra-Sudetic Basin, situated around the Czech-Polish border, represents intracontinental basin filled dominantly with fluvio-lacustrine strata of the Mississipian to Triassic age. Coal seams under investigation are composed of banded coal having ash content between 15.3 and 19.74%. The rank of coal corresponds to high volatile bituminous (A) class. H/C versus O/C diagrams show position of the studied coal in the area of vitrinite genesis pathway which is indicative for its precursor formation from woody material of arborescent plants. They also occur within the field of type-III kerogen (kerogen-type diagram) at the mature zone of catagenesis representing bituminization stage of coalification. The C/N ratios of the measured samples have high values from 68 to 102 typical for formation from lignin-rich vascular plants. Most common of coal samples having ortho-hydrous and pre-hydrous characters give an evidence of dominance of anaerobic conditions of medium to low redox potential. Macroscopic characteristics denote the improvement of coal quality and depositional environment toward the upper coal seams. Thick...
Analysis of landcover changes in the area of Sokolovsko using GIS and remote sensing
Šubr, Ondřej ; Matějíček, Luboš (advisor) ; Rojík, Petr (referee)
Region called "Sokolovsko" is an area in the Czech Republic in which a coal mining has caused a great interference with the appearance of the landscape. With a subsequent reclamation, the affected areas are recreated into new landscapes, however on the research base, the non-interference approach is applied in order to follow the principles of a natural succession. This diploma thesis examines the influence of the origin, respectively the relief of the dump area on the intensity of the spontaneous vegetation growth, within the example of the Velká podkrušnohorská spoil heap, based on the data collected by remote sensing techniques. The vegetation indices NDVI and SAVI were used to reveal the intensity of the vegetation cover on the area of the interest. It is clear from the results that the vegetation growth is considerably faster in the areas with the original, wavy relief. It was also found that the vegetation growth of the non reclaimed area of Velká podkrušnohorská spoil heap in the parts of which the relief was settled at the time of the origin differs from the non reclaimed area of which the relief was left in the original wavy surface and later over layered with a new material. Finally it was made a comparison between the non reclaimed part of the Velká podkrušnohorská spoil heap whose...

Genesis and paleogeographic significance of the clastic bands in the main coal of the Most Basin
Novotný, Tomáš ; Opluštil, Stanislav (advisor) ; Rojík, Petr (referee)
This diploma thesis presents first systematic geochemical a petrographical research of clastic bands in the lower-miocene Main Coal of the Most Basin. The main target of the thesis is evaluation of proxy analyses (EDXRF) of clastic bands and ash yield from coal. This method allows for identification of paleogeographic information about provenance of clastics derived from two different sources. The first source area represents weathered Tertiary volcanoclastics and the second is derived from crystalline basement in southwest part of the Bohemian Massif. Different geochemical signal of these two source areas detected in clastic bands allowed to constrain the switching of provenance into the lower part of the middle bench of the Main Coal in the Bílina open-cast mine whereas in the Doly Nástup-Tušimice mine this change occurs below the Main Coal. This result corresponds with idea of gradual changing of provenance across basin. Anomalous geochemical composition characterised by apparently increased content of Sr-Ba-P-Ca elements in one of clastic bands in the lower part of the Main Coal exposed in the Doly Nástup-Tušimice open-cast mine is related to presence of phosphate group minerals florencite and woodhouseite minerals as confirmed by RTG diffraction. This assemblage suggests possible admixture of...
