Scalable algorithm for non-linear problems of solid mechanics

The paper is concerned with a novel algorithm for solution to contact problems stemming from the TFETI domain decomposition method.Our new algorithm exhibits both parallel and numerical scalabilities. Numerical experiments include solutions to steady-state problems with non-linear effects.

The paper deals with application of the FETI (Finite Element Tearing and Interconnecting) method to finite element solution of contact problems while taking into account another nonlinearity, namely the large displacements and rotations. We show, in terms of numerical experiments (i) performance of the algorithms stemming from the FETI method, in particular its numerical and parallel scalabilities and optimelity of the dual penalty, and (ii) solution of a Hertzian contact problem, i.e. achieved accuracy of the numerical solution by comparison with the analytical one, and the convergence rate.
Numerical and experimental study of stress wave propagation in thin steel plate

The paper deals with the research wave propagation in the thin isotropic plate. The problem is solved both numerically and experimantally. The full- fiel visualisation of the displacements caused by generated waves was carried out by double-pulse holointerferometry. The perpendicular impact to the surface of the plate was generated by means of a sample with an exploding wire. The numerical and experimental results are compared and discused.

Displacement response of bilinear and biquadratic isoparametric elements is investigated in terms of eigenpairs of stiffness matrices. Analysed matrices are computed for various values of Poissons ratio, degrees of numerical integration and various types of constraints on strain and/or displacement components. Constraints are imposed via projection methods. Stress components and stress invariants corresponding to eigenvectors are also analysed.
