In my bachelor thesis I deal with the origin, development and activities of the Provincial Office in Prague, later the Provincial National Committee in Prague, and its connection to higher and lower administrative authorities. The conclusion of the thesis is devoted to the demise of the Provincial National Committee in Prague and the transfer of its competencies and agendas in connection with the events of February 1948 and the reorganization of public administration in 1949. After the establishment of Czechoslovakia, the Office called the Provincial Political Administration of the National Committee continued the activities of the Czech Governor's Office in Prague. In the internal administration of the Czech lands, the Austrian dualist system was maintained after the establishment of Czechoslovakia, which consisted of the division of the agenda between political authorities and self-governing bodies, with political authorities having a leading position. Efforts to eliminate this system by introducing a county law have failed. It was not until the amendment of this law in 1927 that the provincial office began to operate in Prague on December 1, 1928 as the second instance in matters where the relevant ministries decided in the third instance.
