Quality of life after valve replacement with a mechanical prosthesis

This bachelor thesis deals with the quality of life of a patient after valve replacement with a mechanical prosthesis. These patients must follow specific precautions after surgery, such as continuous anticoagulant therapy, regular monitoring of blood coagulation factors, or adherence to dietary guidelines. This research work aims to evaluate changes in patient's quality of life after the replacement of the heart valve with a mechanical prosthesis. The work is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part describes the anatomy and physiology of the heart, the mitral valve replacement with a mechanical prosthesis, preoperative and postoperative care, rehabilitation, and education of the patient, which is extremely important in this field. Since we are talking about the quality of life, you will also find a definition of this term in this work. The practical part of this work evaluates how the quality of life of concrete people has changed after the valve was replaced by a mechanical prosthesis. The method of a quantitative questionnaire survey was used to obtain the necessary data. The questionnaires were anonymous, in both printed and electronic form.
