TRANSFORMATION OF THE POST-INDUSTRIAL AREA OF MODETA JIHLAVA

The subject of this bachelor thesis is an urban and architectural study on the transformation of the post-industrial area Modeta in Jihlava. The layout reflects the close proximity of the factory to the Jihlava zoo and the needs of the city as the owner of the building. The complex is multifunctional and reconstruction disturb expressive character of buildings and existing structures.

The subject of interest of this thesis is the analysis and solution of the site around the Gate of the Mother of God in Jihlava. The aim is to evaluate the current state of the area with the inclusion of houses owned by the city, which are part of the urban conservation area. The thesis also addresses the issues of tourism in the city, transport infrastructure and parking, property relations and the connection between the city centre and the suburbs. The design part deals with the evaluation of the current condition of three historic houses owned by the city, their reconstruction and new use. It also addresses the new construction of a parking structure on the site of the former bastion and the connection between the historic centre and the suburbs. The proposal was prepared on the basis of the requirements of the Jihlava City Council and is governed by the limits of the conservation area.

Impact of rainwater management on mitigation of hydrological extremes

This dissertation deals with the impact of rainwater harvesting on mitigation of hydrological extremes. Due to the fact that it is a very broad topic that cannot be completely elaborated, the work targets selected aspects of this issue. The work is divided into two parts. The first part is divided into the following five chapters: The water in the landscape, Water regime, Hydrological extremes, Water regime adjustment and Legislation. These chapters summarize available worldwide knowledge about rainwater harvesting both in the landscape and in urbanized areas with a focus on mitigation of extreme hydrological phenomena (floods - drought), including legislative security of water management on national and EU level.
The second part of the thesis is compiled in the form of an annotated set of four scientific studies, whose results were presented in articles published in scientific journals. The first study targets the efficiency of torrent control (hydro-technical point of view and migration of water fauna). The second study focuses on the territory of the Morava River floodplains, where negative impacts of floods and droughts appear repetitively. The study solves the hydrological balance of the area using the WBCM-7 model. The third study focuses on computation method of the retention drainage capacity in the agricultural area drained by subsurface pipe drainage system. The last paper describes a new application of the Fourier series for detailed simulation of the runoff on a catchment in the dry periods. Within the thesis, these studies have been interconnected by explanatory comments.

Food Quality Mark “Regionalni potravina“ as an Instrument for Promotion of Local Food Production

Local food is a current topic within the Czech food market. The Thesis is focused on the food quality mark "Regionalni potravina" as an instrument for local production promotion. Aim of the thesis is to verify whether labeling local food with the quality mark "Regionalni potravina" contributes to the local food production. An analysis has been performed, that focuses on The Ministry of Agriculture of the Czech Republic's project "Regionalni potravina" in The Usti Region. The analysis contributes to the current local food issue from the perspective of consumers and producers. A questionnaire survey among The Usti Region's consumers and local food producers, that were awarded the quality mark, has been performed. Half of the respondents claim to consume local food, they appreciate its quality and clear origin. The food quality mark "Regionalni potravina" has appealed to the consumers, thus they are motivated to buy local products. That leads to promotion of local food production. The survey was able to prove that the food quality mark "Regionalni potravina" truly leads to promotion of local food production. Considering these conclusions and consumers' attitude towards local food, it would be worth considering to promote a wider range of local food producers who meet the quality and local origin requirements.

Vegetables and the possibility of increasing its consumption

The theoretical part of the term paper is divided into three basic parts. The first part refers about the basic distinction of the vegetable sorts in the market, including the description of the major representatives. The second part consists of the nutrition characteristics of the vegetable and its importance for the health. The third part then describes the current situation in production and vegetable supply in the Czech Republic. The methodical part is focused on the creation, data entry and further processing of the questionnaire in order to gather the data about the popularity and vegetable consumption in the selected population sample. The sample consists of 220 respondents, which are students from the 6th and the 8th grades of the basic school. In the practical part there are presented results from the graphical processing of data collection from the given 220 questionnaires. All together there are shown 10 pie charts in this part, with the percentage data evaluation, and 10 bar charts with the numerical evaluation. The practical part is also filled up with the information about the data processing. In the section of discussion and results there are analysed the findings from the questionnaires, where it is possible to evaluate the actual information about the popularity and consumption by the young population. Based on this analysis there are concluded results and recommendations for increasing the vegetable consumption by young people.

The pilgrimages to Medjugorje and their influence on deepening laymen´s religious lifes

This thesis describes the influence of pilgrimages on deeping of believers´s religious life. It approaches spiritual life in the pilgrimage site in Medjugorja. It evaluates the effects of the spiritual aspiration and it shows evidence of conversion. It refers to the consequence of the Marian message and it specifies the resources for acquisition of the mercy of God. Thesis extracts information from the available literature and also from author´s own personal experiences. In the final result it brings the recognition of the love and the mercy of Father God. It is appointed to everybody who wants to find the right meaning of its own life.
