Gender equality policies in Finland in 2000-2015

The bachelor thesis called "Gender equality policies in Finland in 2000-2015" aims to explore the steps of developing a gender-sensitive welfare state in Finland over the selected time period. It therefore describes the measures implemented by Finnish government in various areas of public and private life in the first fifteen years of the 21st century and notes the gradual deepening of already existing gender equality policies. The thesis is divided into two large chapters. In the first chapter, the reader becomes familiar with the concept of gender equality policies and their functioning on the example of the instruments of the European Union, as well as with the so-called Nordic welfare model, which is mainly associated with the Scandinavian states. Afterwards, the concept is applied to the specific example of Finland. Attention is paid to the attempts to solve gender issues primarily in the political decision-making, on the labor market, in educational institutions, and in the families. The problems of violence and prostitution are also mentioned in the thesis. One part of the chapter also describes Finnish state feminism and the machinery that is responsible for solving gender issues and its monitoring.
