This report describes the work carried out in the second year of the public contract Geological and geotechnical characterisation of the rock environment – PVP Bukov II. The\ncharacterisation and descriptive works are directly related to the excavation of the premises for the future underground laboratory. These include in particular: geological and geotechnical documentation of the faces and walls of the workings, petrographic, mineralogical and structural geological documentation, hydrogeological characterisation of the environment, as well as determination of the physical and mechanical properties of the rock mass in situ and in the laboratory, geophysical characterisation and monitoring of the seismic effects of blasting and hydrogeological monitoring. An important part of this report is preparation of the classification system used to describe the rock mass. The report also includes a brief overview of the work planned for the third year of the project.

An important part of this report is the research of the classification systems used to describe the rock mass and hydrogeological research. The report includes also brief overview of the work planned for the second year of the project.
Flux Fluxes in the Amphibolite Basin On the Green at the Marianske Lazne Water Works
Krám, Pavel ; Veselovský, F. ; Čuřík, Jan ; Myška, Oldřich
The paper is about hydrology and hydrochemistry of the Na Zelenem catchment forested by spruce stands which growso n substrate formed by Cambisol on amphibolite. This catchment is characterized by fairly favorable hydrochemical conditions for terrestrial and aquatic biota. The catchment is able to effectivetely neutralize incoming acidic atmopheric deposition mainly due to chemical weathering reactions involving divalent base cations, calcium and magnesium. Mean average precipitation to the Na Zelenem catchment was 790 mm/yr based od 5 year studied period and mean surface runoff was 193 mm/yr in the last two years. Runoff was between 24 and 27% of annual precipitation input to the catchment in the last two years. The catchment accumulated less than 20% of total nitrogen input in bulk precipitation. About 36% of nitrogen left the catchment via surface runoff. About half of the nitrogen output was in the form of nitrate and about half in the form of dissolved organic nitrogen.
Drainage water chemistry in geochemically contrasting catchments
Krám, Pavel ; Myška, Oldřich ; Čuřík, J. ; Veselovský, F. ; Hruška, Jakub
Three small forested catchments, each underlain by geochemically contrasting silicate rock types, were studied in the Slavkov Forest, western Czech Republic. Hydrochemical patterns were ascertained by concurrent stream water and soil water sampling. Th e catchments served as valuable representatives of contrasting terrestrial and aquatic ecosystem resilience to anthropogenic acidifi cation.
