Měska, Ondřej ; Švec, Kamil (advisor) ; Charvát, Jan (referee)
The main objective of my diploma thesis is to analyze and evaluate the Political Movement ANO positioning within the political parties system of the Czech Republic by using a methodological framework approach. The thesis provides an analysis of electorate shifting and selected political parties manifestos as well as their comparison with the Political Movement ANO. Timewise, my focus is on the period prior to the election to the Chamber of Deputies of the Parliament of the Czech Republic in 2017. As for analytical purposes, the Hierarchical Bayesian Modeling has been used. This statistical model helps to get the respective values and to show the electoral vote changes between the last two parliament elections (to Chamber of Deputies). The author uses quantitative and qualitative research for comparison and analysis of programmatical convergency as defined in the election manifestos of various political parties. For manifestos quantification a coding scheme by a Comparative manifesto project group has been applied. The reason for using the above mentioned scheme is that it provides a structured methodology to quantify the domains that the political parties do focus the most in their manifestos. The aim of the analytical part of the thesis is to define how and especially from where the Movement ANO...
The Coordination of Social Security System in the European Union in the Case of Pensions (2016)
Měska, Ondřej ; Brabec, Petr (advisor) ; Barák, Vladimír (referee)
The thesis presents a complex analysis of the social security system in the European Union with a special emphasis on the pension systems, or better, their coordination. The existing level of pension systems coordination has been a result of a long development process that is reflected in a sophisticated legislation. The thesis also introduces a case study in which an individual has gained a working experience from five EU countries and applies for the retirement pension in the last of these countries. This case study has been prepared in order to review the overall pension system functionality as well as to demonstrate its weeknesses. In the final part of the thesis, the author summarizes his recent conclusions and finds the EU system to be very elaborate in the field of legislation and its overall coordination. However, the system hardly allows to an ordinary citizen to calculate his/her expected retirement amount that would i.e. enable him/her to anticipate his/her standard of living as a retiree.
Patterns of the electoral behavior of voters in the Usti Region
Měska, Ondřej ; Švec, Kamil (advisor) ; Švec, Radek (referee)
The main goal of this bachelor thesis is to try to find out a formula of electoral behavior of voters in region Ústí nad Labem using a correlation analysis. In the first part of the thesis its author introduces regional differences related to specific variables or election results. In the second part a large dataset is made on a municipality level and applied to a disctricts' level subsequently. A goal of the thesis is to find out a correlation between election results of four chosen political parties (ČSSD, ODS, KSČM, DSSS) in elections to Parliament of the Czech Republic in years 2010 and 2013, and a voters' socioeconomic status using the obtained dataset. The conclusion of the thesis reveals whether we could expect any specific election results of selected political parties based on voters'socioeconomic status and also to find out a formula for voters' behavior.
