(in English): The main goal of this bachelor's thesis is to approach and point out the events in Robert E. Lee's life and his decision, which influenced him to sign up for the Confederate side before the mere start of the Civil War. The work discusses Lee's youth, his studies and work before the war with Mexico, and also his family life. The subsequent work will be devoted to the Mexican- American War and the leading compromises. The Mexican-American war, in its consequences, was one of the main triggers of secession. The work will also discuss Robert E. Lee's view on slavery.
