Coal petrographic and technological characteristics of selected coal seam sections
Maralbayev, Orak ; Opluštil, Stanislav (advisor) ; Kožušníková, Alena (referee)
The diploma thesis provides an overview of history of exploration, geological and stratigraphical settings and coal mining of the Karaganda and Ekibastuz basins in NE Kazakhstan; the two most important hard coal deposits of the country. Although the coal- bearing strata of both basins are identical (visé), the mining conditions and quality of coal significantly differ. The seams No. 1, 2 and 3 of the Bogatyr Opencast (Ekibastuz Basin) are merged into a single coal-bearing horizon reaching a cumulative thickness between 150 and 170 meters located in shallow depth. On the opposite, seams of the Saranska Mine (K10, K12 and K18) in the Karaganda Basin are usually only few metres (locally up to 5 m) thick and in most part of the coalfield are situated in depth up to several hundred metres. Seam and overburden thicknesses affect the mining methods. In the Karaganda Basin coal is extracted in deep mines whereas in the Ekibastuz Basin in huge opencast mines. To provide a comparison of extracted coal, samples taken from the Bogatyr Opencast (Ekibastuz Basin) and from the Saranska Mine (Karaganda Basin) were analysed for their petrographic (maceral) composition and chemical and technological properties. The results show that in the seams Nos. 2, 3v, 3G, 3D, 3E, 3Z and 3Z from the Bogatyr Opencast and seam...

Excursion quide
Kožušníková, Alena ; Konečný, Pavel ; Vašíček, Zdeněk
The paper describes the locality Vondruška quarry and quarry in Stará ves near Bílovec. We can find the clastic sediments of the Hradec-Kyjovice members in both localities. Finally, the excursion visits the Green Gas DPB, a.s. where the exhibition of cores from mine drills in Ostrava and Karviná members has been exposed.

Evaluation of cross-correlation relationship between coal characteristics and technological and textural parameters of cokes
Serenčíšová, J. ; Vontorová, J. ; Klika, Z. ; Kožušníková, Alena
This paper deals with the statistical evaluation of the basic characteristics of 26 coal samples and cokes produced and delivered by coking plant Zabrze in Poland. The aim of this study was to evaluate the following correlation relationships between chemical (Ad, Sd, Cla, Pd) and petrographic composition of coal (the content of vitrinite, inertinite, liptinite) and coalification degree (Vdaf, Rr) together with coking parameters (contraction a, dilatation b, swelling index SI) in relation to textural (TIV - total intrusion volume, TPA - total pore area, APD - average pore diameter, BD - bulk density, PS - total porosity), chemical (Ad, Vdaf ) and technological parameters (CRI, CSR) of cokes. The results are discussed and compared with previous studies.

Texture of cokes in relation to parameters of coal and coke
Pěgřimočová, J. ; Kožušníková, Alena
The article presents a proposal of the simplified classification of textures of coke and the relationship between the texture parameters of coke both coal, from which the coke was made, and properties of the coke.

Czech and Polish Conference Geology of Coal Basins /9./
Kožušníková, Alena ; Ruppenthalová, Lucie
Department of Laboratory Research on Geomaterials of the Institute of Geonics AS CR has organized the Czech - Polish conference about geology of coal basins since 1993. Traditionally, at the conference meet experts especially from the Czech Republic and Poland, dealing with the development and research of coal deposits, geology of the coal basins, tectonics and coal petrography. However, with new trends in the use of coal deposits, there are also presented the results of research in physical and chemical properties of coal and coal mass, pyrolysis and combustion processes or geosequestration of CO2 into coal seams.
Guide to geological excursion in surroundings of Ostrava
Vašíček, Zdeněk ; Martinec, Petr ; Kožušníková, Alena ; Konečný, Pavel
The paper describes the most interesting geological localities in Ostrava region. Landek is unique outcrop of Carboniferous sediments of Upper Silesian Basin (Namurian A). Zámek Conglomerate outcrop is an important locality of the Poruba Member occurring near Silesian-Ostrava Castle. Exploitation of Pleistocene glacial gravels will be visited in Lake Kališčák near Bohumín. Geological “men made” locality is Ema dump which consists of waste rocks of Ostrava Formation.
Proceedings of Czech-Polish Conference Geology of Coal Basins /8./
Kožušníková, Alena
The 8th Czech-Polish conference on the coal basin geology represents a traditional meeting of specialists, mainly from the czech Republic and Poland. Within the frame of the conference there are presented papers concerned with wide problems - coal basin characterization, sedimentary progression, stratigraphy, petrography of rocks and coal, physical and chemical properties of coal and rocks, pyrolysis and combustion processess connected to environmental aspects.
