Bachelor thesis Communication in a bilingual family: Communicative situations with diverse emotional colouring examines the influence of emotions on the speech of younger school- aged multilingual children (specifically in Czech). The theoretical part defines fundamental concepts relevant to this issue based on literature. These concepts mainly include those characteristic of bilingualism, the younger school age period, language management and emotions. The practical part takes the form of a case study, documenting communication within a multilingual family living in the USA. The research material consists of video recordings of children's spoken language and semi-structured interview with the Czech parent. The acquired material was first transcribed and subsequently analyzed. The information from the interview primarily served to create a characterization of the family. Keywords bilingualism, family communication, emotion, younger school age, Czech
