Patient quality of life with glaucoma

This thesis deals with the quality of life of patients with glaucoma. Its aim is to introduce professional and general public with difficulties and changes that these patients throughout their lives restricted. The theoretical part briefly defines quality of life describes the basic characteristics of glaucoma. The practical part describes its own investigation, which took place from June to November 2015 in the eye clinic Regional hospital Kladno. A total of 83 patients were enrolled. For data collection method was chosen a questionnaire which included items the standardized questionnaires NEI-VFQ-25 and GQL-15 and items characterizing the respondent. From his own survey shows that in the sample of respondents can be observed significant differences in responses by gender, age, treatment with glaucom disease and the level of the highest educational attainment. The thesis also gives a brief description and results of studies already exist on the same or similar subject.
The Origin and Development of Interventional Cardiology and the Role of Nurses in the Field

The diploma thesis addresses the historical development of interventional cardiology, an important field of medicine, which improves the prognosis and quality of life of patients with cardiovascular diseases. The goal of the work is to describe the evolution of interventional cardiology from humble beginnings to present day and to point out important events and historical moments which led to breakthroughs in cardiology and to demonstrate the role of nurses, important members of catheterization laboratory teams. Several sources were analyzed in this theoretical work, mainly articles from scientific journals and textbooks, the gathered information was complemented by interviews with medical professionals witnessing the origins of interventional cardiology in Czech Republic. The result of the thesis is an overview of the development of interventional cardiology since the demanding first steps, through the performance of the first coronary angioplasty to the wide array of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures replacing some of the cardiac surgery procedures of the present day. keywords: interventional cardiology, heart catheterization, percutaneous coronary intervention, intensive care
The role of nurse in the pharmacotherapy team

This diploma thesis deals with current pharmacotherapeutic care with a focus on activities that nurses take part in. The aim was to collect and evaluate the views and experiences of selected nurses regarding their role in pharmacotherapy team, particularly what activities they perform in such team and how their pharmacotherapy teams work in general. SWOT analysis was then used firstly to evaluate the current role of nurses and secondly to suggest a way of implementation of possible extension of nurses' competencies in pharmacotherapy. In order to collect the required data, semi-structured interviews were conducted. These were recorded, so they could be easily processed afterwards. During transcription of the interviews into written text, all the collected data was briefly analysed. The data was further analysed using the open coding method, when three main categories with specific subcategories and subcodes were identified. All the selected men and women, which were asked for cooperation, are people working as a nurse without supervision and mentoring. Based on their career history all of them were expected to have a more specific experience with the issue.
