Bassoon in the chamber music of Bohuslav Martinů

The title of my diploma thesis is Bassoon in chamber music of Bohuslav Martinů. The thesis is mapping Bohuslav Martinů's chamber work for the bassoon, namely the circumstances of the creation of compositions, premieres or recordings. Another point of study is the selection of several interpretatively interesting parts of bassoon excerpts and their assessment from an interpreter point of view. In the first chapter I deal with the personality of Bohuslav Martinů in particular periods of his life with references to the most important compositions and professional influences. In the next chapter there is a catalog of chamber works for the bassoon of Bohuslav Martinů with informations on the origin and premieres of the compositions. There are also sheet music examples of interesting parts in the excerpts of the bassoon and their interpretative specifics.

The aim of this work is to provide a satisfactory additional material for advanced bassoon students. There is not enough time left during the practical lessons to tell interesting information that might be even helpful for the student. The name of the theses is The Introduction to the History, Theory and Issues of Bassoon Performance. The subject matter of this paper focuses on the theoretical findings; it also covers information beneficial for the practice. First of all, the basic facts about the bassoon and related instruments are mentioned. The other chapters deal with the historical development of double reed woodwind instruments, the manufacturing process of a bassoon and contrabassoon, and there is a summary of important terms. Furthermore, information about proper breathing and more practical advice and tips are included. A part of this paper is also dedicated to remarkable authors and interpreters of bassoon music.

Ars rediviva, history and concert activities

The title of my bachelor thesis is Ars rediviva, history and concert activities. The aim is to map the history and activities of Czech chamber music ensemble Ars rediviva. Ensemble, which had a direct impact on the return of early music on the concert stages of Czechoslovakia in the 50s of the 20th century, and development of interpretation of early music in Czechoslovakia. Ensemble Ars rediviva was one of the longest established chamber ensembles on the Czech scene (1951-2005). Interpreted almost exclusively the music of the Baroque and Classicism (the exception was some works by contemporary Czech composers whose premiere Ars rediviva performed). The first section presents the founder of the ensemble Milan Munclinger. The second chapter examines the beginnings of the action of the ensemble on the music scene. The third chapter focuses on personnel changes in the ensemble during the operation, the fourth chapter focuses on concert activities of the ensemble and repertoire.
Karel Pivoňka and bassoon´s class of HAMU from beginning to present

The title of my master's thesis is Karel Pivoňka and Academy of Performing Arts in Prague and bassoon class from the beginning to the present. In the first chapter is the development of czech bassoon school and everything that preceded the bassoon class of Academy of Performing Arts. In the first chapter is subchapter where I mention the personality of Karel Bidlo, which also had an effect on the development of czech bassoon school. In the second chapter I discuss Academy of Performing Arts, the school and individual departments. In the third chapter describes the personality of Karel Pivoňka and in the subchapter are listed all the graduates of the Conservatory and the Academy of Performing Arts, which studied at prof. Karel Pivoňka. In the following chapter are the most significant graduates from the beginning to the present. The last chapter is an overview of most concerts and broadcasts for radio, which played Karel Pivoňka. Annex is scanned photo of Karel Pivoňka.
Bassoon studies for the Beginners

The aim of this work is to demonstrate a closer point of view about the issue of learning to play of a wood wind instrument bassoon, especially for the beginners meaning little children and also to their parents. The title of the thesis is "Bassoon studies for beginners". The content of this work is focused on first contact with the instrument and is divided into two parts. The first part is theoretical and deals with the historical development of the bassoon, reed issues, and breathing techniques. Other chapters are focused on correct holding of the instrument and are explained the problems of embouchure. This part of thesis also includes an interview with one of the successful bassoon lector MgA. Lukáš Kořínek. The second part is practical. Fifteen chapters describes the first tones beginning with C to c1 including b flat, f sharp and c sharp in simple songs and melodies. In view of the fact, that there are insufficient materials about how to play the bassoon in the very beginning, this thesis was written to provide the basic information and advice for the beginners in bassoon playing and can also be used as complementary material.
Bassoon in a cycle of Six sonatas by Jan Dismas Zelenka

As a main task in my bachelor´s thesis I chose to resolve especially a technical problems of bassoon?s parts of Six sonatas by Jan Dismas Zelenka and to try to facilitate the playing of interprets as much as possible. Next fundamental issue which I decided to solve is an interpretation and its phrasing. Also we can find in this thesis humble analysis of sonatas and important informations about their origin. I devided my bachelor?s thesis in three chapters. In the first one I deal with the life of Jan Dismas Zelenka, in the second one with the origin of cycle of Six sonatas, the exact titles and the structure of individual sonatas. In the third chapter I?m engaged to mentioned technical problems, I solve the possibilities of practice, phrasing, how to make it easier and also I present brief analysis. In the conclusion of thesis I solve for example a possibility of complete edition of all cycle during composer?s life, I mention the most important records of world and czech interprets and I pursue with a recapitulation and a vision of my bachelor?s thesis.

The topic of this Bachelor?s thesis is the ?Problems of making bassoon reeds?. The thesis is divided into five chapters with one subchapter. The first chapter discusses the bassoon reed. The second chapter describes Arundo donax ? trsť rákosovitá. The third charter is a list of tools needed to produced of bassoon reeds. The fourth chapter is devoted itself to making workflow of bassoon reeds. In the fifth charter presents the most important makers of bassoon reeds. The fourth chapter make up the major part of this Bachelor?s thesis. As an attachment to attach pictures with tools.
